Walgreens is building America’s first ‘zero energy’ superstore

Zero Motorcycle releases app for iOS and Android with customizable dashboard

The Santa Cruz-based firm has just released an app for both iOS and Android that provides a customizable riding dashboard along with valuable statistical data about your vehicle. You can change the dashboard so it displays percentage state of charge, torque, drivetrain component temperatures, battery amps and more during Riding Mode, and after the ride’s over you can flip over to Statistics Mode to get stats like how much gas money you might’ve wasted if you weren’t riding a Zero. If you don’t have one, you can still play with the app in Demo mode just to see how it works. The app pairs with the bike over Bluetooth and is available for free from both the App Store and Google Play.

Remember the first series of boyfriend achievement badges created by Etsy seller BoyfriendBadges? Well now there’s an advanced achievement set for when your relationship gets even seriouser. “Seriouser isn’t a word.” But you knew what I meant? “Yes.” Soooo… “But you’re butchering the language.” Please, text-talking killed it, not me. If anything I’m trying to hump it back from the brink of extinction.

This set includes (from top left to bottom right): Road Trip Survival, Close Encounters with the Ungroomed Kind, Forget and Forgive, Conquista-Drawer, Key Swap, and Open Door Policy.

I’m not really sure what ‘Close Encounters with the Ungroomed Kind’ is supposed to mean, but from the look of the badge it means you turned into a werewolf. An important stage in any relationship.

Thanks to Mark, who agrees the Open Door Policy for the bathroom should not exist because that’s nasty and can be a relationship ruiner.

Members of the Senate have called Zero Dark Thirty, Academy Award-winning director Kathryn Bigalow’s Bin Laden movie, “grossly inaccurate” in its portrayal of US-sanctioned torture. In a letter to Sony Pictures Entertainment, Diane Feinstein (D-CA), Carl Levin (D-MI) and John McCain (R-AZ) said the movie was a “deep disappointment,” labeling it “misleading in its suggestion that torture resulted in information that led to the location” of the Al Qaeda leader.

If you’ve been staring lustfully at an electric motorcycle but needed that little extra push to make the jump, Zero Motorcycles has a unique incentive in store: it’ll pay for your first 25,000 miles on the road. Should you take the keys to any one of the company’s two-wheelers between now and the end of May, you’ll get a Visa gift card for the amount within a few weeks. Of course, the reason it can make such a seemingly generous offer is through the sheer efficiency of an electric engine: at a typical 10 cents for every kilowatt-hour, you’re looking at just under $ 200 for what’s likely several months or more of driving, even if you’re particularly enthusiastic. Knowing that riding the same amount with a gas-powered bike practically requires taking out a small mortgage in the current economy, though, we’d say that Zero is just reminding us of an an advantage e-motorbikes already have.
