Will the Droid Xyboard (Xoom 2) Have a Wifi-Only Version in the United States?

Question by yomommasucksatlife: Will the Droid Xyboard (Xoom 2) Have a Wifi-Only Version in the United States?
I am really interested in buying the Droid Xyboard, better known as the Xoom 2. I know that Verizon is releasing it tomorrow; however, since I will not be using it anywhere that does not have Wifi, I was wondering if there will be a Wifi-Only Version. So far, I only know of the Wifi version to be in the UK, but will it make it to the US?

Thanks In Advanced!!

I’m asking myself the same question, and from my research I would say yes, just not sure when. When Motorola released the Xoom back in February it was a 3G only device. One month later in March they released a Wifi only version for a cheaper price (not sure on the prices). So it would be safe to assume that they will in fact release a Wifi only version sometime in the near future (possibly early January, or if we are lucky a late december addition, maybe even right before Christmas, but it looks more like the later than the sooner). Another option which I have looked into is ordering one from the UK and having it shipped to America. The cheapest I have found is 329 pounds, which converts roughly to 500 American, plus about 20-30 for shipping (go to motorola’s website and click on xoom 2, and then theres a link for “where to buy” or something like that). So that puts it at around the same price as the Ipad 2.

Hope this helps and good luck because I am looking for the same thing =)

Should I get the Motorola XYBoard or the Xoom?

Question by : Should I get the Motorola XYBoard or the Xoom?
Well, Christmas is around the corner and I found out today that Motorola made a new tablet and I wanted the Xoom before XY Board but both look like good tablets. And please don’t put “get and I Pad” as an answer.

No. U should buy the Transformer Prime. It looks really nice and its made of metal. Its a quad core tablet. Which means the processor can do 4 things at once. It is the fastest tablet in the world. More than twice the speed of the new Motorola xyboard. The new Transformer Prime and the XYboard are both great tablets and allot more powerful than the iPad 2. The transformer prime has the brightest screen and it has one of the highest resolution screens available in a tablet. The Transformed costs $ 500. The transformer prime hasnt come out yet but it is expected sometime this month in december. It will also be upgraded to android 4.0 in January or get February of 2012. Good choice in tablets though. The iPad is good and has allot of apps, but it sucks. Its definatley not the fastest. The iPad 2 hasis only has a 1mp camera and the tranfirmer prime has an 8mp camera.

Xoom 2 (Xyboard) Unboxing & 1st Look

Xoom 2 (Xyboard) Uboxing Tablets are plentiful nowadays, so when Motorola announced their Xoom 2 – also known as the Droid Xyboard in the US – I was dubious if it would have any takers. They needed to make something distinctive with some new features. This time around they have gone slimmer and redesigned the shape to the funky device you can see in the video about. Sleek looks might not make it a winner though … there is a lack of memory card slot in this device, so 16GB is all you get. On a more positive note, you do get a gorgeous 10.1 inch IPS display and a snappy 1.2GHz dual core processor. Is this enough to make you buy one? Motorola Xyboard 8.2 WiFi-only model streaks through FCC, reveals little

Remember that Motorola Xyboard 8.2 WiFi-only model that just went on sale? Well it just paid a visit to our friends at the FCC who promptly tore it down and took a few shots — you know — in the name of science. The pictures show the main board, the front and rear camera modules, various flex cables, the rear housing and display chassis, the battery, the capacitive digitizer and screen, the speaker and both antennae (WiFi / Bluetooth plus GPS). It looks like the tablet received minor modifications to the WiFi / Bluetooth antenna involving judicious application of Kapton tape. Go figure. Want to see more? Hit the via and source links below.

Motorola Droid Xyboard 10.1 hands-on impressions (video)

Don’t call it a comeback, it’s a Xyboard — Motorola’s rebranded (for the US, anyway) Xoom 2. A 10.1-inch attempt at sidestepping the original Xoom’s notoriety. With baked-in LTE of the Verizon variety, a slimmer waistline and a distinctive design, this Android 3.2 tablet could very well inject a dose of excitement back into the company’s flagging category appeal. But with the spotlight-stealing ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime already on the map and dazzling consumers with its notebook-like functionality, will anyone even notice Moto’s second swing at Honeycomb? Are LTE speeds and an improved silhouette enough to lure wayward users back into the company’s willing embrace? Does anyone even care about non-Ice Cream Sandwich tablets? Read on as we explore the odd ends and angles of this curiously-shaped slate.
