Lovefilm gets One Tree Hill, West Wing and other Warner Bros TV serials

Fast payday loans For Every One

LoveFilm just chalked up another rights deal, this time with Warner Bros International TELEVISION Circulation. As of today, customers to the Amazon-owned UK streaming service will get access to serials like One Tree Hillside, all seven seasons of The West Wing along with Nip Tuck, which ought to at least go some way to narrowing Netflix’s advantage in TELEVISION content.

Kaleidescape Movie Store opens with Warner and UltraViolet, promises Blu-ray quality and extras

Kaleidescape Movie Store opens with Warner and UltraViolet, promises Bluray quality and extras

We got a peek at Kaleidescape’s digital shipment plans at CEDIA previously this year, but now it’s thrown open the doors of its shop, letting users of its systems purchase and download flicks, no messy (and lawsuit-entangled) disc changers necessary. The Kaleidescape Store is currently providing movies by Warner (around 3,000 movies and 8,000 TV episodes), and befitting its high-end stature, it’s bring a little extra over numerous various other offerings. According to the business it’s secured a contract guaranteeing all the extra material from the retail discs are readily available too, and with video and audio quality “equal to Blu-ray Disc and DVD” at 24fps 1080p, and with Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD MA lossless audio soundtracks.

Furthermore, it’s consisted of UltraViolet access for most titles purchased in the shop, with plans to offer a disc-to-digital conversion solution in the future. Presently, all content in the shop is standard definition, but HD is apparently on the way in very early 2013. Owners of the systems will require the most recent kOS 5.0 update to access the store, where movies are priced similarly to other digital flick stores. Look at a news release and demo video after the break, or see the link below for some hands-on impressions and access to the store itself.

Netflix announces new deal with Warner, will deliver popular content to Canadian streamers

History would kindly tell us that this isn’t the really first offer Netflix and Warner Bros. have struck in past months– and, well, possibilities are it won’t be the last one either. Earlier today, the streaming giant announced it had reached a brand-new agreement with the California-based studio which will certainly deliver a large amount of new content to customers in Canada. Beginning January of next year, Netflix streamers in the Great White North could begin seeing TV shows such as The Vampire Diaries, Fringe and Pretty Little Liars, as well as movies like The Hangover Part II, Horrible Supervisors as well as the critically-acclaimed blockbuster The Dark Knight Rises– although these flicks will come “for a restricted period following their pay tv window.” There’s still time before the package bears fruit, so possibly the following few weeks could be used to begin clearing that overwhelmed Instant Queue of yours.

Sky beats LoveFilm, bags exclusive rights to Warner Bros movie catalogue

Sky has actually bested its show and video-on-demand competitors by signing an offer with Warner Bros. for exclusive rights to its movies in the UK and Ireland. When the six-month cinema window has elapsed, each new flick (consisting of Guy of Steel and The Dark Knight Rises) will certainly remain Murdoch-only for a full year before showing up on LoveFilm and its kind. Meanwhile, back-catalog titles like The Lord of the Rings and The Matrix will certainly stay locked in the partnership’s walled yard for a confidential time period. Good news if you’re a Sky client, we expect, and not if you’re not.

Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cablevision, And Others Will Share Wi-Fi Hot Spots

imgres-1

Imagine for a moment that you are sitting in your front yard in a lawn chair, sipping lemonade while attempting to read the latest news on your WiFi-only iPad. You’re just out of range of your WiFi signal. Your neighbor’s signal is super strong, but that selfish hooligan didn’t leave it wide open for you to leach onto.

Relax. Depending on where you live and who your service provider is, you may be able to use your neighbor’s hotspot regardless of his futile attempts to lock it down someday soon.

A consortium of cable companies (Comcast Corp., Time Warner Cable Inc., Cablevision Systems Corp., Bright House Networks LLC and Cox Communications Inc) have agreed to enable the sharing of WiFi hotspots at a grand scale, creating a large region of available signal, in select markets in the U.S.

According to the Wall Street Journal, a single hotspot name and sign on scenario will be used to make it easier for consumers to log in and use available spectrum to surf. It will be a perk for paying broadband account holders in the consortium, but certain providers like Time Warner will let you pay as you go if you like.

I assume there will be measures in place to prevent people from consuming all of the available bandwidth of someone else’s node, but they haven’t explicitly laid out how or when throttling will occur.

Time Warner confirms HBO Go coming to Xbox 360 and Roku today

HBO Go

Yesterday a report surfaced that the HBO Go streaming service would be available to Time Warner customers on both the Roku and Xbox 360, and now Time Warner has confirmed that this is the case. The app should be available to subscribers on all three platforms at some point today — Time Warner says that it could take “a few hours” before everyone has access. While the HBO Go app originally launched on the 360 back in March, the streaming service previously wasn’t available to Time Warner subscribers. However, the cable service’s customers have been able to use the app via a Samsung Smart TV since early this year. The app should be available to all subscribers by tonight, so if you don’t see it yet be sure to check back later in the day….

Time Warner customers, others getting HBO Go on Xbox 360 and Roku tomorrow?

hbo go

HBO will reportedly extend access to its HBO Go streaming service to more cable customers tomorrow. Engadget has screenshots of Xbox 360 and Roku activation menus that show the previously unavailable Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks logos, along with Comcast and DirecTV appearing for Roku. The site’s sources also say that Time Warner Cable customers will be able to access HBO Go on Samsung HDTVs and Blu-ray players, though the service actually rolled out for TWC on Samsung Smart TVs back in February. No mention of specific models was made.

HBO and Time Warner Cable are yet to comment, but if you subscribe to one of the mentioned providers (and HBO, of course) it might be worth trying the activation process once or twice come…
