Fast payday loans For Every One

We’re gathering just outside of Microsoft’s HQ for what is looking like it’ll be a day full of excitement, culminating in the “special unveiling” of a “New Generation.” It’ll be the next Xbox for sure, replacing the venerable Xbox 360 that has been giving us gaming joy (and occasionally frustration) since way back in 2005. Will this new unit be powerful enough to stay relevant for that long, too? Or, will this be the generation when Sony takes back the lead? Join us at the link below at 1:00pm ET tomorrow!

President Obama to nominate Tom Wheeler as FCC Chairman tomorrow

As Julius Genachowski winds down his five-year term as Chairman of the FCC, rumors of his successor are in full swing. Now, Engadget has confirmed with a White House official that President Obama will nominate industry veteran, Tom Wheeler, for the position, in an announcement that will come tomorrow. According to Wheeler’s profile on his personal blog, he currently identifies himself as a venture capitalist and sits on the boards of Roundbox, UpdateLogic, Twisted Pair Solutions, EarthLink and TNS. Wheeler’s history in the cable and wireless industry spans decades. He served as president of the National Cable Television Association (NCTA) from 1979 to 1984, and later took the helm of the CTIA as its president and CEO from 1992 until 2003. According to Politico, Wheeler shares close ties with the Obama administration, and is said to have raised hundreds of thousands of campaign dollars for the President’s two bids at the White House. Pending confirmation, Mignon Clyburn, will serve as interim chairman until a new leader is appointed.

ASUS teases something square and grey, will reveal its new device tomorrow

ASUS teases something square and grey, will reveal its new device tomorrow

Were we expecting any new hardware from ASUS Items we’ve seen but have not shipped like the Qube and Transformer Book spring to mind immediately, but they’re not a direct match for the pic the company posted on its Google+ page this evening. It’s inviting any and all guesses as to what it might be, and promises a device reveal tomorrow, so your period of eager anticipation will be thankfully short lived. Judging by the comments it appears unlikely that it’s anything we’ve had hands-on with so far, but it features the spun-metal aluminum look we’ve become familiar with on ASUS’ tablets and laptops lately. Beyond that, the oddly squarish aspect ratio draws immediate comparisons to the 3:2 Chromebook Pixel, but until it’s officially unveiled, we’ll leave the rest of the guessing up to you.

WSJ: FCC chairman Julius Genachowski will say tomorrow that he’s stepping down

FCC chairman Julius Genachowski stepping down

Merely a day after FCC commissioner Robert McDowell announced his resignation, it appears that chairman Julius Genachowski is going to do likewise. Citing an unnamed FCC official and industry official, The Wall Street Journal reports Genachowski is expected to leave — presumably as his term ends on June 30th. Granted, the departure isn’t a shock to anyone who follows the roller coaster ride of Washington, but it’s bound to rekindle chatter about who is set to take his place.

Like most every other figurehead in politics, Genachowski has had his fair share of outspoken proponents and critics, but he has embedded himself into the world of consumer electronics in a way that few other chairmen have. From calling for hastened broadband rollouts throughout America to voicing concerns about the existing phone unlocking policy, Genachowski won’t soon be forgotten for his forthright opinions on matters that impact folks who frequent this site. As for the man or woman taking his place this summer? Looks like we’ll have to wait a bit for the answer to that one.

We reached out for more, and a spokesperson for the chairman declined to comment.

Roku 3 goes on sale tomorrow for $99 with upgraded CPU and a new UI

Roku 3 goes on sale tomorrow for $ 99 with upgraded CPU and a new UI

Almost 2 years after its last significant set-top box rollout, Roku prepares to present its first 3rd generation player. Aside from a brand-new curvier design outside the Roku 3′s major differences are a more effective processor inside, the addition of dual band WiFi and a tweaked remote with audio out (headphones included) for private listening. Naturally, hardware is only half the tale and the new player debuts a remodelled interface that will likewise infect “present generation” players (read: Roku 2, brand-new HD, LT and Streaming Stick) as an update in April. Roku 3 passes sale tomorrow with Roku.com and Amazon.com for $ 99, taking the location of the existing top of the line XS design. We’ll go more in depth about what’s brand-new this time around, consisting of a video preview of the brand-new UI, after the break.
