Tango video chat goes native on iPad, expands screen use for all

Fast payday loans For Every One

The mobile version of Tango’s video chat app has almost exclusively revolved around smartphones. It’s at last going a little bigger: an update to Tango’s iOS app is introducing full iPad support, expanding conversations to tablet size. Those who don’t need quite that grand a canvas can still make the most of what they have through the new release. Calls now use the whole screen regardless of OS, and iPhone users can touch up any soon-to-be-shared photos in Aviary. The talkative among us just need to snag Tango’s upgrade at the source link to eke a little more from their screens.

Samsung Smart Tango Corner Clean robotic vacuum hits Flickr ahead of CES launch

Samsung Smart Tango Corner Clean robotic vacuum appears on Flickr ahead of CES launch

There’s no doubt that Samsung’s holding its juiciest bits for the stage in Vegas, however the company has been letting a couple of items slip on by, with an update to its robot vacuum line representing the most recent pre-CES tease. The Smart Tango Corner Clean preserves a typical round design, however consists of the “globe’s really first pop-out brush,” which makes it possible for the bot to whip debris out of edges and otherwise unattainable spots along its mapped-out course. On the navigation front, the new cleaner appears to include Samsung’s camera-equipped Visionary Mapping System, with a front-mounted lens. There’s also a built-in LCD for shows and error code readouts, in addition to a handful of controls on the top and a standard removable dust bin in the back. There’s no hint of prices or availability– or even a design number to mention– but if you’re in the marketplace for an autonomous vac, you might as well hold out on your purchase for another week.

6.4 percent of most popular Windows Phone apps are incompatible with Tango devices

Nokia Lumia 610 stock

We’ve already seen several instances where low-memory Windows Phone devices like the Lumia 610, which has just 256MB of RAM, simply can’t run certain high-profile apps. But just how bad is the problem? AAWP crunched the numbers and found that of the 86,292 apps currently available in the Windows Phone Marketplace, only 1.6 percent aren’t compatible with 256MB phones — which is less than Microsoft’s claim of five percent. However, that number does increase a bit when you look at the more popular apps. Of the top 10,000 downloads in the UK, 4.6 percent are incompatible with low-memory devices, while 6.4 percent of the top 1,000 apps won’t work.

Unsurprisingly, a large number of the incompatible apps are games, with likes of Plants vs….

Windows Phone Tango: lower cost, fewer capabilities

Gallery Photo: Windows Phone Tango hands-on pictures

Microsoft revealed Windows Phone Tango at MWC 2012 as a version of the operating system for low-cost devices with 256MB of RAM. The update was good news for owners of early Windows Phone devices that didn’t meet the minimum requirements for Mango, but there have been a few hiccups. Microsoft said that not all apps in the Windows Phone Marketplace would work on devices with only 256MB of memory, and there have since been issues with Angry Birds and Skype, just to name a couple.

Nokia flips internet sharing switch on for Lumia 710 and 800c in Tango update

Looks like Espoo’s finally ready to do the Tango with Lumia owners. According to a report on Nokiapoweruser, updates for localized variants of the 710 and the China-only 800c have been spotted on NaviFirm, indicating a planned firmware rollout for those WP 7.5 devices is underway. Users in Belgium, the Netherlands and Vietnam who download the software should see that previously dormant internet sharing ability enabled, in addition to the installation of a trio of Nokia apps — Sportstracker, News and Creative Studio — as standard on handsets. No word on when the company intends to release the package to other markets, but with this latest news, it can’t be far off now.

Windows Phone 7.5 ‘Tango’ ROM leaks, now available for HTC HD2 and Samsung Omnia 7

Gallery Photo: Windows Phone Tango hands-on pictures

Windows Phone 7.5 “Tango” is reportedly due out in China next week, but eager Windows Phone users can now grab a Tango ROM that’s just leaked over at xda-developers. The leaked ROM is listed as “Tango Build 7.10.98 .8773″, and custom Tango ROMs based on the leak have also been released for the HTC HD2 and Samsung Omnia 7. Windows Phone 7.5 is expected to significantly expand the platform’s internationalization by driving the hardware requirements downward and expanding language support. The update will also include some improvements to MMS and an SMS bug fix. By all appearances it’s not a major feature update, but we’ll keep our eyes pealed for any surprises that might appear in the leaked Tango build.

Microsoft details full Windows Phone ‘Tango’ 256MB RAM device limitations

Gallery Photo: Windows Phone Tango hands-on pictures

Microsoft revealed its Windows Phone “Tango” engineering effort at MWC last week, but the company was fairly vague on the exact restrictions for its new low-memory devices. Nokia and ZTE will be the first device manufacturers to launch Windows Phones with just 256MB of RAM, but there will be restrictions for end users and developers. Microsoft updated its Windows Phone site this week with the full details:

  • Windows Phone Marketplace app restrictions – Some processor-intensive apps have specific memory requirements, and will not work on devices with 256MB of RAM.
  • Podcast subscriptions and video podcasts – Devices with 256MB of RAM will not be able to manage podcast subscriptions of watch video podcasts.
