BlackBerry Bluetooth Mini Stereo Speaker Gives You A Speakerphone That Goes Anywhere For $79.99

BlackBerry’s accessories are almost as interesting as its first BB10 shipping hardware, and in addition to an external battery charger, they’ve also got a Bluetooth Mini Stereo Speaker/speakerphone that’s extremely portable, delivers decent sound and won’t cost you an arm and a leg at $ 79.99. Plus, the unique design means it clips onto your sun visor in the car for hands-free communication.
The sound quality from the speaker is decent, much better than a lot of more expensive devices (though I’d still prefer a Jambox for audio fidelity), and it can actually go quite loud. Not room-filling or anything, but plenty loud for private listening. But the main advantages are the fact that it acts as a very good Bluetooth speakerphone, charges via micro USB (and can be charged with your external Z10 charger), can go weeks without a charge and has a 3.5mm headset jack, which essentially makes it a Bluetooth receiver for use with a stereo or headphones.
The hardware accessory market is a place where it’s hard to compete with platforms like iOS and Android, and that’s likely why BlackBerry is taking an early interest in doing things itself. And they’re off to a good start in that regard, if my experience with this speaker is any indication.

Music aficionados will recognize the term “fortissimo.” It’s used to signify belting out the tunes as loud as humanly possible, which is exactly what Clarity is hoping to achieve with its speakerphone that uses the name. The Clarity Fortissimo is geared toward those who are mobility-challenged, offering a massively loud 95dB speaker, huge buttons, voice activation, Bluetooth and DECT connectivity, and a large touchscreen display. The Fortissimo offers Plantronics’ Vocalyst technology, which has the ability to push emails, messages and even social network updates. It also has a dedicated button that automatically dials Clarity’s support center, where a rep can then program the phone remotely for you. Expect to see the Fortissimo available this spring — we were quoted April / May — and will retail for $ 500. We have images and video after the break.

We’d all rather be flown to some exotic, Caribbean location for our next corporate get-together, but in these hard economic times sometimes a good ‘ol audio bridge makes the most sense. Increasingly those concalls are happening via some sort of VOIP bridge, and Plantronics’ latest are ready for it. First up is the Calisto 800 series “multi speakerphone” devices, which offer connectivity to an analog phone line, a mobile phone over Bluetooth, and even a PC over USB. This lets you easily dial in to just about anything and naturally offers a full duplex speakerphone with noise cancellation and an LCD with caller ID. There’s even an optional wireless microphone that you can plunk down on the table so the lamentations of the entire QA team will be picked up load and clear.
Also new is a revised version of the Voyager Pro UC, a rather more traditional Bluetooth headset with an extended boom for better voice pickup and the ability to pair to a mobile phone and a PC (via a tiny USB adapter) simultaneously. It’ll even do A2DP so you hold music won’t be the only tunes you hear. Both appear to be available now, and both start at $ 199.95, putting them out of reach for most non-corporate attendees.

We posted a little while back about the LG GD910 expected in August for around $2,000 USD. Well now Samsung is coming out with their version of the watchphone coming later in July, possibly early August for 450 Euros.
Samsung has announced the S9110 featuring a 1.76 inch touch screen, Bluetooth, voice recognition, email, speakerphone and music player… What a mouthful for such a small device. From the images below it looks like it is the size of a bracelet but the model might also have small wrists. Guess we will have to wait to see what it is like when it is released. Would be nice to see OLED used to make the screen bend around the wrist, or better yet, unroll/expand when the larger screen is needed.
