It looks like the coming flagship phone from Samsung, the Galaxy S4 will come with different processors, an Exynos 5 OCTA processor for Europe, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 for the US. I wonder why Samsung are doing this? Is it because different needs because of LTE antennas or something? They did the same with Samsung Galaxy S3, so I wonder why? I’ve heard rumors about the Exynos 5 Octa processor having heating issues though, so if Samsung plans to use it for Europe, then I really hope they have fixed that. Otherwise I rather want it to have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 CPU… March 14 we will know more. It will be a ver exciting event! I am sure of that. Qualcomm left out a few details when it announced its next-generation Snapdragon 800 mobile processor last month at CES. Every smartphone and tablet that utilizes the processor (none of which are expected until next year) will be enabled with what the company is calling Quick Charge 2.0, which is said to charge devices 75 percent faster than those without the technology. In the real world (if you count Qualcomm’s laboratory as the real world), it’s reported that some tablets that normally take over seven hours to charge did so in under three.

The technology builds off of Quick Charge 1.0, which is said to offer 40 percent faster charging than older phones, and Qualcomm announced just last week that it had been built into over 70…

Qualcomm’s isn’t truly a brand name that figures prominently into the average individual’s understanding of the mobile area, which’s precisely the issue that the San Diego-based semiconductor company is attempting to take on in its latest and most popular CES keynote to date. Cringeworthy introduction aside (facepalm material as far as the eye can see), Qualcomm CEO Paul Jacobs took show business to reveal some big changes to its Snapdragon line of mobile chipsets.

The S-series name put onto the chipsets of yore is now officially dead– Qualcomm has simply announced a variety of brand-new mobile chipsets full with some new calling conventions to go with them. Sitting atop the stack is the recently revealed Snapdragon 800, which Qualcomm claims will run a complete 75 percent faster than the existing Snapdragon S4 Pro (you understand, the crazy-fast chipset utilized in devices like LG ’ s Optimus G and Nexus 4). It’ll be fairly some time prior to we can test those claims for ourselves (the first Snapdragon 800s will not see the light of day until around the middle of the year), but its elements paint a very powerful image.

The Snapdragon 800 will include Krait 400 CPU centers that could run as quickly as 2.3 GHz, an Adreno 330 GPU, and some significant upgrades in regards to connectivity. Think support for LTE-Advanced (which permits information accelerate to 150Mbps), in addition to 802.11 ac Wi-Fi. Of course, Jacobs did even more than just speak about the 800 series– Guillermo del Toro made a guest look to plug Pacific Rim, prompting Jacobs to begin an outstanding clip of the film running off of an 800 collection chipset.

Additionally on deck today was the Snapdragon 600, a substantial leap from its predecessor, the Snapdragon S4 Pro. It sports a few significant distinctions in architecture when contrasted to the S4 Pro — it can strike clock rates of 1.9 GHz, and includes a slightly snappier variation of the Adreno 320 GPU. When all is stated and done, the 600 is said to be roughly 40 percent more powerful than the S4 Pro.

Normally, not every mobile gadget is going to get a super-fast processor. Qualcomm is prepping chipsets for those entry-level and budget-conscious smartphones, as well, though there wasn ’ t much specific offered today. Take the Snapdragon 200 collection, for circumstances– it ’ s a more basic chipset that’s geared to offer strong (if not necessarily remarkable) battery life and performance for entry-level smartphones. A 400 series Snapdragon chipset is in the works, too, but Jacobs didn’t spend too much time digging into these little men; they’ll be expanded in greater detail later on this year.

As it takes place, some of you could have stumbled upon the information a little early — a few prominent sites appear to have pushed information of the Snapdragon overhaul out a little bit of too soon before quickly taking them offline. Luckily for Qualcomm though, the accidental release of these articles doesn’t seem to have stolen much thunder (which is really the last thing Qualcomm requires at this point). For exactly what it ’ s worth, anybody who questioned that Qualcomm can putting on a great program was soundly shown wrong tonight — surprise looks from Huge Bird, NASCAR driver Brad Keselowski, and a video address from Archbishop Desmond Tutu were simply a few of the deals with the business had in shop for the audience. If its honest Snapdragon chips (and its push for greater consumer recognition) goes pans out as well as its keynote has, we could be in store for some very impressive days to come from Qualcomm.

Acer may be something of a leaky ship. Just days after we saw the supposed V360 smartphone pose for the camera, a possibly related V350 model has reportedly shown up in GLBenchmark’s results. Despite the lower number in the naming scheme, the device put through testing looks to be the higher-end of the two. It jumps to a 720p screen, a speedier 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 processor and even a slightly newer Android 4.1.2 build of Jelly Bean. Without a peek at other details, we don’t know what else if anything might be upgraded over the V360, or if this is indeed a real device — benchmarks aren’t definitive proof, after all. If history is an indicator, though, we could get full details of the V350 near Mobile World Congress in February, like with past devices. We just hope Acer is timelier about actually getting to market this time around.

LG’s extra-wide handset seems getting started on a world tour, and its packing a brand-new processor for the trip. The Optimus Vu will be taking NVIDIA’S Tegra 3 chip to select markets in Europe, Asia, the Center East, Africa and Latin America this September. It’s still rocking that 5-inch 4:3 proportion IPS display, of course, but gone is any sort of reference of LTE connection. There’s no word yet if we’ll see an LTE-equipped Tegra 3 mobile phone hit Yankee coasts when our time comes, but we definitely would not bat an eye. Continue reading for LG’s official press release.
