What Andre Cassagnes considered today ’ s beeping and whirring playrooms we put on ’ t know. We do know that the former electrician, born upon September 23, 1926, developed his iconic toy after noticing exactly how graphite clung to a thin movie of plastic while he was increasing a light switch decal. He played with the concept for a while and produced the L ’ Ecran Magique in 1959. Ohio Art licensed his idea in 1960 and the red-framed gadget was born.
The inventor perished on January 16th of unidentified reasons.
The toy went on to terrific acclaim. Called one of the leading 100 toys of the 20th century it played an important job in many of our lives. Its constraints offered it magnificence and one shake is all it took get rid of our transgressions. For numerous of us it was our first experience in mechanical illustration and what was LOGO however an electronic Etch A Sketch? That we, as pre-digital children, could put something on a screen was a mesmerizing proposition which children still enjoy this toy is a marvel.

Cassagnes attempted to recreate his success and built a dabble a globe-shaped screen and a vehicle game. Nothing got fairly the same praise. In his later years took up kite-flying. Some would state it ’ s unfortunate to be remembered for only one production however, I would gamble, Cassagnes ’ gentle, silent toy is a noble memorial to its creator.
