Bossa Nova Robotics Launches The MObi, A Bot That Rides On A Ball

mObi Image

If you informed me yesterday that today there would certainly be a robot that balances on a solitary ball and could locomote itself around the space on said ball, I ’ d state you were an insane person. Well, you ’ re not a crazy person. Bossa Nova Robotics, makers of the Penbo line of robot toys, has just launched the mObi [sic R_SQUARE_B., a robot that “ is based upon technology that permits the robotic to balance on a ball and move seamlessly with a solitary point of contact on the ground, making it possible for natural omni-directional motion, slender design profiles and remarkable navigation in human environments. ”

The robot, shown right here, balances on a solitary ball. Bossa Nova tappinged the services of engineers at Carnegie Mellon University to obtain this lady rolling and apparently it will be offered as a research platform initially then as an actual product in around 2013.

We ’ re trying to obtain a bit more details, however till then just imagine exactly how fun it would be to treat this robot like a self-righting punching bag clown and then, when it got mad enough, it would lash out with razor-sharp claws.

is there a sensor for robotics that can detect a target or gps device and aim accordingly?

Question by robear: is there a sensor for robotics that can detect a target or gps device and aim accordingly?

Best answer:

Answer by ankit
yes many ways you can do that

1) use a camera and detect the traget (Moving) through motion sensing software and program robot to aim or use shape recog software and allow robot to aim to particular shape

2) use GPS 1 on target and broadcast the GPS coordinates from target to robot. Robot to aim using the GPS co ordinate from Target.

3) Use Infrared camers , man/fix your target with an Infrared light , use software program to sense and locate the IR light on target and the control robot to aim accurately

Best answer:

Answer by Chris
Absolutely.

Just like any sense, the ability to hear sounds confers benefits to the organism – or robot – that can hear.

But what frequencies should the robot hear? What sampling rate should be used? What sort of filters might allow the robot to hear what it needs to hear in a noisy environment? What sort of mechanical reflectors can extend a two-eared creature’s ability to detect the three-dimensional source of a sound?
