Huawei’s MediaPad joins AT&T’s ’4G’ army, pauses to rethink possible
Ready to rethink possible, tablet-style? AT&T announced today that it’ll be getting its 4G (well, HSPA+, that is) paws on Huawei’s MediaPad, roughly half a year after the Android tablet made its debut. The seven-incher offers up a 1.2GHz dual-core processor courtesy of Qualcomm, front and rear facing cameras and Honeycomb, with ICS still on the horizon. It’ll arrive on the carrier tomorrow for “varying price points.” Press release after the jump.

Judge tells Oracle to rethink $2.6 billion claim against Google
The war between Google and Oracle is far from over, but the big G keeps racking up tiny victories in what are admittedly modest battles. Now the Redwood Shores-based company has been told to go back to the drawing board with its damages report. Originally Oracle sought $ 2.6 billion, but its theories were largely dismissed and Judge William Alsup suggested an alternative starting point of roughly $ 100 million. The company still has an opportunity to present a new report, one that will likely seek much more than the proposed $ 100 million, but things are looking increasingly tough for the claimant. It wasn’t all good news for Goog, though. While the judge told Oracle to narrow its focus from Android as a whole to just specific infringing features, he did agree that related advertising revenue should be included in the theoretical royalty base. He also offered harsh criticism for what he viewed as its “brazen” disregard for intellectual property rights. The trial is still scheduled for October, so we should have a better idea of how this whole thing will play out by Halloween.

Nintendo says no Wii price cut coming in ‘near future,’ might want to re-think that

Remember the halcyon days of motion gaming? When the Wii was selling to everyone and everyone’s grandmother in such huge volumes that Nintendo couldn’t keep up? That time is long-past and, after the most recent disappointing earnings report from Nintendo (which isn’t the first), people are beginning to ask the obvious question: when is the thing getting cheaper? For $ 200 gamers can now choose between a shiny new Xbox 360 or a Wii, and while crimson bundles might help, a price cut would help more. That’s not coming soon according to President and CEO Satoru Iwata, saying: “we cannot say [a Wii price cut] will never happen, but we are not thinking of it for the near future.” So, when? Well, the last time he said it wasn’t getting a price cut that’s exactly what it got five months later. Maybe March, then?
