BookBook for iPhone 5 now shipping, rear camera hole and all handson

It took a little longer than a few of those various other cases, however Twelve South‘s BookBook for iPhone 5 is now shipping en masse. Some of those who pre-ordered began getting their devices as early as last week, but if you missed that wave, there’s no demand to motion for the panic button. The outfit’s newest purse / iPhone case is really even more than just a resized version of the prior one; without a doubt, it finally identified ways to include a rear camera hole without worry of flash echo, and there’s a new snap-in system that holds your phone in spot. The clever outside remains greatly the exact same, and there’s still space for your crucial IDs and credit cards as you flip it open. We were quite huge supporters of the prior develop, however the addition of the camera hole makes this one a no-brainer for supporters of the style. The gallery below is completely free of charge to pore over– those who hit the source link, nevertheless, will certainly be asked to shell out $ 59.99 to get one of their very own.

Project Glass makes a TV appearance on Charlie Rose, flashes its rear for the cameras

Project Glass makes a TV appearance on Charlie Rose, flashes its rear for the cameras

Google fellow, founder of Project X and self-driving car pioneer Sebastian Thrun became the latest to publicly rock a Project Glass prototype (after company co-founder Sergey Brin) on a recent episode of Charlie Rose, and managed to show off a whole new side of the project in the process. While the 19-minute interview was mostly unremarkable product-wise with a focus on higher education and his Udacity project, we did get to see him take a picture of the host (about a minute in) by tapping it, then posting it on Google+ by nodding twice. Also, as Electronista points out, in a brief reverse shot (17:20) of Thrun we see for the first time what appears to be a small battery pack / transmitter portion lodged behind his ear. Of course, we’re still not any closer to rocking the latest in bionic man-chic ourselves, but at least we can start getting fitted for one now.

Batman Pulled Over For No Rear Plate, Only Bat Emblem

batman-pulled-over-1.jpg

So apparently Batman (not this little turd) got pulled over in Silver Spring, Maryland (more of my old stomping grounds!) this week for not having a license plate on the back of his surrogate Lamborghini Batmobile, only a novelty Bat Emblem plate. Rich people, man — they get their kicks in the strangest ways.

After verifying that the man owned the vehicle police let him off with just a warning so that he could go do good in the community. As it turns out, the super hero was on his way to visit sick children in a local hospital.

Ha, of COURSE he was on his way to visit sick kids at the hospital, he’s a do-gooder. Man, I wish I was rich enough to drive my Lamborghini to visit sick kids in the hospital. Or anywhere really. I’d visit them on the f***ing moon if I got to drive a Lamborghini.

Hit the jump for a couple more shots including one of Batman flexing in front of his car.

Rear window LED hack minds bad drivers’ manners, has nothing to do with Hitchcock (video)

Typically, road rage responses range from a flip of the bird to some gentle highway drag racing. For an enterprising hacker by the name of Gagandeep Singh, however, those on-road hijinks have given way to a more eloquent, albeit LED-lit resolution. Conceived as means of informing errant drivers of their transportation follies, Singh rigged up a 40 x 16 LED matrix display and affixed it to his car’s rear window. Using an AT89C51 micro-controller, hard-coded messages and animations are then fed to the 2cm x 2cm grid, much to the chagrin of reprimanded drivers following close behind. Eventually, this helpful hack’ll hookup with a mobile phone over Bluetooth, delivering real-time updates (and insults?) to the display. Until then, you’ll just have to make due with Singh’s step-by-step DIY at the source. Jump past the break for a scrolling view of this corrective driving tech.

Next-Gen iPod Nano 7G Panel Leaked! Likely to get Rear Camera?

Next-Gen iPod Nano 7G Panel Leaked! Likely to get Rear Camera? is a post from: Gadgets DNA

iPod Nano 7G will retain its camera! According to a Taiwanese site Apple.pro, the seventh-generation iPod nano may retain its current smaller form factor but will add a rear-facing camera once again.

Based on the position of the hole, the camera would appear to take up space currently occupied by a portion of the iPod nano’s battery, so it is unclear whether the device would be able to use a smaller battery or if components could be shifted around enough to accommodate the camera while maintaining the same size for the battery.

Unaddressed is how the clip on the next-generation iPod nano would accommodate the rear-facing camera, as the clip is currently covers the entire back of the device and would of course obscure the camera. Based on the screws visible on the inside back of the case, however, it seems that Apple have simply narrowed the clip and perhaps shifted it down slightly from center in order to accommodate the camera.

This is the very same teaser site which dangled the Verizon iPhone 4 schematics before our eyes. So we may safely assume that iPod Nano 7G might retain camera. Even the 6G nano tear down photo from iFixit bears a close resemblance to the leaked photo. Via Macrumors

iPhone 5 to Drop Rear Glass Surface, to go on Sale in Summer – Report

iPhone 5 to Drop Rear Glass Surface, to go on Sale in Summer – Report is a post from: Gadgets DNA

According to a Chinese source, Apple is changing the rear part of iPhone 5 to aluminum which was used for first iPhone’s instead of glass or might adopt the design similar to iPod touch 4G, after facing lots of issues with white paint and scratches on rear glass surface, reported Taiwan’s Economic Daily News.

Decision to design iPhone 5 similar to iPod touch instead of using glass was arrived after receiving number of complaints. Apple seems to stop damages from scratching, issues after painting it white (for white iPhone 5), weight of glass and want to make it more durable instead.

Antenna will be designed just behind Apple Logo so that cellular and Wi-Fi signal can penetrate easily. Side exposed steel antennas seem to be abandoned, as designed in iPhone 4. The report also confirms that the next generation iPhone5 will be galloping on multi-processor A5, as in iPad2.

iPhone 5 seems to be released July or June at WWDC 2011 same as past years. We will update you more tidbits on iPhone 5. Just follow us on twitter or join our facebook fanpage.

Nexus S emerges in white attire, but it only covers its rear

Staying true to its Galaxy S forefather, the Nexus S has shown up with a new white shell, which, just as with the Galaxy S, only extends to its rear portions, leaving the front end a familiar shade of noir. Just what’s keeping manufacturers from blanching their phones’ visage, we don’t know, but at least it’s looking like there’ll be some variation in the Nexus S’ palette. We did notice a “Silver Black” Nexus S sprouting up in European retailers’ listings a couple of weeks ago, which this could well be — it all depends on how loosely these companies define the word “silver.” There’s no knowledge on when or where this chromatically altered S will be on sale, but you’ll know more as soon as we do.

iOS 4.3 beta suggests iPad 2 has one megapixel rear camera

“The iPad 2 has a camera.” We know, it feels all but certain at this point (even when it’s far from official), but perhaps we can expand on that quoted assertion further. Like everyone else who can laugh at Objective-C jokes, 9 to 5 Mac has been digging through the latest iOS SDK and found some data referring to K94, which it claims is the codename for the next-generation iPad. (For reference, the original iPad was K48.) Anyway, within that code lies a string reference to “Back Facing 1MP Photo.” Going further, the front-facing camera is reportedly VGA — same as the iPhone, same as the iPod touch. It’s unclear if the also-found “K95″ files also included the the same data, or what exactly that codename might be, but if you’re the betting sort, feel free to say, “the iPad 2′s megapixel mullet is 0.3 up front, 1 in the back.” It’s still a gamble until Apple unveils it with a puff of virtual smoke on a presentation slide.
