HTC Radar
T-Mobile USA announced on Monday that it plans to stock the HTC Radar 4G on November 2.
T-Mobile is planning to offer the device at $ 99.99 after a $ 50 mail-in rebate. The Radar 4G will be available on a two year contract with T-Mobile’s Classic voice and data plan, plus taxes and fees. The HTC Radar is a white Windows Phone 7.5 device featuring a 3.8-inch LCD display, 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM and a 5MP rear camera. The Radar also features a front facing camera, supported fully in Windows Phone 7.5 “Mango”. Known previously as the HTC Omega, the Radar is an aluminium device with a snow white look.
WinRumors recently reviewed the HTC Radar and concluded:
“Overall the HTC Radar is the best small sized Windows Phone 7.5 device on the market right now. The improved performance and aesthetics will make it appealing to the masses who aren’t prepared to move to a 4.7-inch display right now. The improved camera will also interest those wanting to use their phone as a point and shoot replacement.
The HTC Radar is very much the new Trophy and the comparisons are evident throughout the device. The moderate specs and look and feel of the device in the silver edition could make it an interesting contender going head to head with Nokia this holiday season.”

It took life as the Omega, but it didn’t take long for HTC’s Mango handset for the masses to be christened the Radar. Alongside the higher-end Titan (with its gigantic 4.7-inch screen and souped-up 1.5GHz CPU), it holds the potential to replace numerous devices in the company’s Windows Phone lineup — the Trophy, Mozart and HD7 all come to mind. Yes, we may see additional options down the road, but for the moment, it comes down to these two. While the Radar’s aging chipset, sealed battery and limited 8GB headroom will undoubtedly discourage some buyers, it’s managed to find a soft spot in our jaded hearts. Just how’d it do that?
