German Traffic Wardens Mistakenly Give Snow Sculpture Car A Parking Ticket, Are Not Amused

Some German pranksters in Aachen built a snow car overnight in a no parking zone and traffic wardens came and gave the car a ticket the next morning. But when police found out it was all snow and there was no car underneath — boy were their faces red. Get it? Because it was so cold out.
The wardens eventually realised they’d been had when they tried to scrape the snow off the number plate and found there was no plate, just snow,” they added.
But the prank has received a frosty reception from local police.
A spokesman said: “We can take a joke as well as the next person and it was a very convincing prank.
“But whether it was made of metal or snow it was still obstructing a road that should have been clear.”
How do you even give a ticket to a car without getting the license plate number? ‘To the person with the unidentifiable car under this snow pile — pretty please send $ 80.’ The old honor system method. That doesn’t work. You ever left candy out on your porch for Halloween with a sign that reads, ‘Please take 2′. The first kids to show up emptied the whole bowl into their bags and smashed your pumpkins.

Microsoft mistakenly gifts Windows 8 pirates with a free activation key

Microsoft’s final copy of Windows 8 leaked online back in early August and pirates have been battling to work around Microsoft’s activation technology ever since. Early attempts involved the use of third-party Key Management Services (KMS) servers that would activate a copy for 180 days, requiring a re-activation every six months. This work around has allowed Windows 8 pirates to use the operating system free of charge temporarily, but the software maker has now made it even easier to avoid paying for a key.

T-Mobile customers being mistakenly shipped Micro SIMs, just begging to get shoved into iPhones

You’ve got to admit, this is a little weird: we’ve received a number of tips today about T-Mobile USA customers being shipped Micro SIMs rather than the typical Mini SIMs. We’ve gotten a picture of just such a module (see above), and you can plainly see it’s not a hybrid — it can’t be snapped out as a Mini SIM, meaning that unless you’ve got an adapter lying around, you need to head into the store to get it swapped out for the right kind. The only consumer devices out there in any measurable quantity right now that make use of Micro SIMs are, of course, the iPad and iPhone 4 — and when you pair this up with the fact that T-Mobile stores are starting to sell iPhone cables right now, the situation is starting to get wacky. Now, we still want to stop short of suggesting this means T-Mobile is getting either the iPad or iPhone any time soon; after all, Apple would have to provide a new hardware variant that supports AWS 3G, and it’s totally reasonable to think the carrier could be offering other phones in the near future that’ll use Micro SIMs. We do love us a good conspiracy theory, though.

Did ViewSonic’s 10-inch tablets catch your eye? We’ve got good and bad news. The good news is that the G-Tablet (with a 1GHz processor and Android 2.2) is now on sale at Sears for $ 379.99 — even less than we were told. The bad news is that the Intel Atom N455-powered ViewPad 10 apparently is, too. We say apparently because Sears seems to have crossed some wires when putting the latter slate up on its site, most egregiously stating that that dual-booting device does both Windows 7 and Android 2.2 for the exact same $ 379.99. Last we heard, the ViewPad 10 — like the eerily similar Tega v2 — could only do Android 1.6 alongside Microsoft’s OS and would cost quite a bit more. Don’t rely on Sears to cut you a deal, folks.
