GeekDad Puzzle Of The Week: Are You Ready For Some Hand-Egg?
Chalk it up to apathy or a busy weekend (we spent a lot of time building a compressed air rocket), but I didn’t realize until pretty late in the afternoon on Sunday that this was the first weekend of the NFL season. So, with a nod to all of you fantasy football geeks out there, this puzzle’s for you. Simply figure out the phrase in the image above. If you need a hint, check out my posts from last week. We’re going to give away a $50 gift certificate to ThinkGeek to one lucky reader who can find the hidden message. Get your answer in before Friday night to have a chance!

Master Offers New Locks With Joystick-Like Controls
Master Lock is now offering a new padlock with an interface that closely resembles an analog joystick. The new locks, called Speed Dial Combination Padlocks, forgo the traditional dial face with numbers and use a stick that can be used in traditional joystick fashion.
The locks come with faceplates (letters, numbers, colors, shapes and symbols) that can take the place of the arrows. If anyone wants to break into my locker, try up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right.

Happy 60th Birthday, Gary Larson!
On August 14, 1950, one of the most brilliantly weird cartoonists ever to live was born. Yes, Gary Larson — creator of The Far Side and natural heir to the genius that was Charles Addams — turns 60 years old today, 15 years after retiring from regular cartooning.
So if you’ve ever had to stifle a laugh when someone nearby used the term “kemosabe,” if you know exactly what’s meant by a reference to “Midvale School for the Gifted,” or if you involuntarily grin at the mere mention of “Bummer of a birthmark, Hal,” please join all of us at GeekDad in this sentiment:
We hope you have a very happy birthday, Mr. Larson, and may you never be visited by the Chicken of Depression!

©Copyright Night Bright Tyre Ltd and/or Rocket Base 2010
Just in time for the release of Tron: Legacy, a British firm is gearing up to release a bicycle tire embedded with LED bulbs. While these lighted rubber tubes won’t lay down trails for your opponents to crash into, they may very well keep you safe. Cyglo tires are intended to create a highly visible ring of light to maximize cyclists’ visibility on busy roads. No pricing has been set yet, but we understand that the flying disc to destroy MCP will be sold separately.
