Should I wait a few weeks after Mango comes out before updating?

Question by Lazyitis: Should I wait a few weeks after Mango comes out before updating?
I’m new to smart phones and updates and such. This Samsung Focus running Windows Phone 7 is my first smart phone. Is it better to wait a few weeks after the update comes out to see if it causes people problems then get it after any last minute issues have been remedied?
Or “it is what it is” and I should install it as soon as it comes out?

you should wait a while. When microsoft issued a minor update before some samsung phones had issues and some where bricked (made useless) and while I believe the carrier issued replacemnts it was still an inconvinence. So yes, I think you should wait just to make sure that there aren’t any bugs that could make your phone malfunction.

Download Zune software(primary software used for Windows Phone) from Microsoft website and plug your smarthpone to computer via USB and fallow the instruction on screen.
Next time you will plug your Windows Phone to computer it will backup all your data automatically just like iTunes for iPhone

Samsung’s Focus 2 arrives at AT&T today, a slice of LTE-equipped Mango for $50

Image

Not long after Samsung’s SGH-i667 “Mandel” looked like it would never see the light of day, the Windows Phone 7.5 device made its official debut at CTIA, dubbed as the Focus 2. As expected, the phone is officially on sale today at AT&T retailers across the US, giving folks another option aside from the flagship Lumia 900 for a fix of LTE and Mango on the network. To refresh your memory, you’ll find a 4-inch Super AMOLED display and VGA camera up front, and a 5MP shooter on back that’s capable of 720p video. Internally, there’s a 1.4GHz single-core CPU (exceedingly par for the course for Windows Phone at this point) and a 1,750mAh battery to hopefully ensure you’ll have enough juice to get through the day. Despite the speedy connectivity, we’d be remiss not to mention that the Focus 2 packs a paltry 8GB of non-expandable storage and only comes in Glossy Pure White — but for fifty bucks under a new two-year agreement, we won’t kvetch too much. Our full review is coming soon, so hit the source link for more details in the meantime.

Microsoft developer evangelist retracts claim that Mango devices will get Apollo

lumia 900 cyan green background stock

Microsoft developer evangelist Nuno Silva has retracted comments from an interview earlier this week, in which he claimed that every Windows Phone sold to date should be getting the upgrade to the next “major version of Windows Phone,” contradicting our sources on the matter. Silva says today that he was merely attempting to make the point “that existing Windows Phone applications will run on the next version of Windows Phone,” and that he “mistakenly confused app compatibility with phone updateability.” It’s not a total surprise given what we’ve heard elsewhere, but it’s still sad to see a glimmer of hope vanish so quickly for Mango users. We’ll be sure to let you know if anything changes with Microsoft’s plans for Apollo.

Thanks,…

Windows Phone Mango now available for Samsung Omnia 7 Deutsche Telekom

Windows Phone 7.5 "Mango"

Microsoft announced on Monday that it is now delivering the Windows Phone 7.5 “Mango” update to Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile) Samsung Omnia 7 devices.

Microsoft originally started rolling out Windows Phone 7.5 on September 27. The company is now delivering the update to all eligible devices. Microsoft’s push towards the Omnia 7 update for Deutsche Telekom users means the only exceptions left are:

  • Samsung Omnia 7 devices on Telefonica still testing
  • Dell Venue Pro on AT&T still planning
  • Samsung Focus 1.4 on AT&T still testing

“If you have a phone that’s still listed as Testing on Where’s My Phone Update?, please be assured that you have our full focus and attention,” said Microsoft’s Eric Hautala in a blog post on Monday. “We aim to deliver Mango to those models as soon as they’ve completed testing and will expedite the delivery process.” Microsoft is also delivering device firmware updates. The firmware updates are provided by handset manufacturers and are designed to improve a phones performance, fix bugs, and activate new Windows Phone 7.5 features.

Microsoft officially launches Windows Phone in India with trio of Mango devices

You may have already been able to get a Windows Phone device in India without too much trouble, but Microsoft has only just now made things fully official — complete with Windows Phone Marketplace, voice recognition support, and a trio of Mango devices. That includes just the HTC Radar initially, which will be available next week for the local equivalent of $ 490, while the Samsung Omnia W and Acer Allegro (believed to be the same as the W4) are set to follow sometime in November. Of the three, the Allegro is said to be the cheapest of the lot, and there’s also some reports that it will launch in Europe for €299 (or roughly $ 400) off-contract. Those curious about the Radar can check out our review from a few days ago.
