Intel roadmap leak reveals 8-core Haswell-E series desktop CPU for late 2014
Now that Haswell’s available in consumer-grade laptops, it’s time to look at what’s next on Intel’s to-do list. A leaked roadmap is claiming that Haswell-E, the enthusiast version of the chip, is coming in the second half of 2014. The documents also promise that Intel will axe the 4-core base model in favor of 6-and-8-core editions of the CPU, which can pack up to 20MB of L3 cache. At the same time, the company is likely to release the Wellsburg motherboard chipset, which can support DDR4 RAM with a clock speed of up to 2,133MHz. If it’s all to be believed, then we have one word of advice to the overclocking community — best start stocking up on liquid nitrogen.

Latest leak suggests Nokia EOS to pack 41MP camera, possible metallic variant also spotted
We gotta say, originally we weren’t very confident in the above alleged spy shots of the rumored Nokia EOS smartphone, but after talking to the leakster from Sina Weibo, we think we got this figured out. First of all, there are two parts here: the paint-less camera cover plate that now says “41 megapixel” — the same camera resolution featured on the 808 PureView — instead of “XX megapixel,” and a metallic chassis of the EOS phone. But the latter (pictured center and right) looks slightly different to the other leaks we’ve come across so far: the bump is significantly smaller, and the holes inside don’t match the ones on the cover plate. If you look even closer, the pin hole for what seems to be a SIM slot at the top is now on the other side of the slot.
Judging by his background and track record so far (he claims he also leaked the red EOS factory photos), we have reason to believe that this leakster does have a good source on the factory floor. Hence our two assumptions: either this chassis is an early engineering sample, or that this is a metallic variant of the plastic EOS. You know, like what the Lumia 925 is to the Lumia 920. We’ve been promised a few more photos in the coming days, and hopefully they’ll unravel more mystery before Nokia lets the cat out of the bag next month.

T-Mobile leak hints at an HTC One launch on April 24th
We’ve known for a while that April 19th is the important day for AT&T and Sprint variations of the HTC One, yet information of the T-Mobile variation’s release has actually been thin. If TmoNews‘ copy of a personnel memo is on target, though, the UnCarrier’s customers will just need to wait up until April 24th to get their turn. The note tells employees that “pick shops” will have the One that day– it does not mention which stores those may be, but it’s safe to state this might mean a launch later on than the one Best Buy claimed days ago. When we already understand the $ 99 regular price, about all that’s apparently left is for T-Mobile to provide the final word.

Rogers leak pins BlackBerry Q10 Canadian launch date as April 30th
BlackBerry fans waiting for an opportunity to blend the BlackBerry 10 OS with a more familiar QWERTY formfactor may know exactly how long they have left, at least north of the border. Mobile Syrup received this pic tonight of what is purported to be an internal Rogers document, which lists the launch date for the BlackBerry Q10 as April 30th. A few other phones appear on the list as well, revealing the Canadian carrier will be offering the Nokia Lumia 520 and a couple of Doro’s PhoneEasy models. If this date holds up it’s a lot more specific than what we’d heard before — hopefully we’re not left waiting much longer for US release information.

Xbox ‘Durango’ leak claims console is ‘always connected,’ games must be installed to hard disk

Last month we heard rumors of an anti-used game system for Microsoft’s next-generation ‘Durango’ Xbox console, but an additional leak this week appears to reinforce those claims. Vgleaks, previously responsible for revealing accurate specifications for Durango, has provided screenshots of an Xbox Development Kit (XDK) for Microsoft’s next-generation console. We’ve seen screenshots leak before, but these appear to confirm a number of previous rumors.
As part of a Durango hardware overview, the leaked documentation states that every next-gen console will include a hard drive with enough capacity to “hold a large number of games.” All games are said to be installable to the drive, and “play from the optical drive will not be supported.” K…

Canon’s New, Much Smaller Entry-Level DSLR Gets Pictured And Detailed In New Leak
Canon is said to be working on a brand-new smaller DSLR called the EOS-b (or Kiss X7 in Asia), baseding upon a series of recent reports, including one today from Japanese blog Digicame-info (through Canon Rumors). The new much smaller sized entry-level body will likewise have a new kit lens, a version of the EF-S 18-55 f/3.5 -5.6 complete with STM, Canon ’ s brand-new AF motor that ’ s made to decrease or eliminate AF sound when shooting video, as well as production smoother incremental zoom.
The camera will have an 18 million pixel APS-C sensor with a Digic 5 processor, as well as a dealt with 1.04 million dot 3-inch LCD show. The camera general seems to borrow a whole lot from the just recently launched Canon T4i, but it has a much smaller physical footprint, as you can see from the side-by-side comparison pic below.
Some benefits the camera will have include exactly what appears like a new hybrid CMOS AF system with a larger variety than the one introduced on the T4i, and it also wants to use the LP-E12 battery pack Canon presented for the EOS-M mirrorless interchangeable lens camera system it presented last year.
The big advantages are the incredibly little body size, which additionally analyzes around 30 percent less than the T4i in addition to using up less space. At only 370g body-only, the alleged EOS-b would be a small carry-anywhere camera without the compromises of a mirrorless compact (slower AF, manual focus-by-wire, absence of a real optical viewfinder, etc.).
Canon Rumors states this brand-new DSLR will retail for around $ 799 for the kit when it debuts in the UNITED STATE, which could possibly occur at some point in May. If real, it may be a very appealing choice for anyone searching for a cheap and portable entry point into DSLR photography, though Canon ’ s decision to try to keep presenting new items into its lineup without really getting rid of any does appear a bit difficult. Poor efficiency of the too-compromised EOS M may be behind the advancement of the EOS-b, but it ’ ll be interesting to see if a super-small DSLR attracts them more than a sturdy ILC competitor.

Galaxy S IV dam springs another leak with floating touch and SmartPause videos
Samsung’s been laying on the marketing glitz for the upcoming Galaxy S IV ahead its Samsung Unpacked 2013 occasion later today, maybe since there’ll be few surprises at the real program thanks to all the leaks. A pair of videos have just been outed allegedly showing two brand-new TouchWiz attributes from the approaching phone: SmartPause and floating touch. The latter will display larger image thumbnails or a details box for contacts when you hover your finger over either, while SmartPause stops video from playing when you look away from it– an eye-detection feature that had been rumored previously but never scoped in action. You can see them for yourselves after the break, however much better reject your speakers first: the videos are a little bit noisy.

HTC Facebook Phone Specs Leak, Outlining A Solid Mid-Range Device With FB And Instagram Pre-Loaded
Question: How do you attract a key youth, mobile-first demographic to your social network and get them to increase engagement? Answer: Partner with an OEM handset manufacturer to create a powerful yet reasonably priced branded device with all your software already on board. Facebook looks to be readying a follow-up to the HTC Status, a mid-market smartphone it released with a dedicated Facebook button in 2011, and a new leak shows off its specs.
Over at Unwired View, noted leakster Evleaks claims to have obtained a recent list of HTC Facebook phone specs (from a source with a proven track record, unlike another recent Evleaks discovery), and they confirm earlier leaks on the same, with some improvements for the better. The HTC Facebook phone, codenamed the “Myst,” will reportedly have a 1.5GHz dual-core MSM8960 SoC processor from Qualcomm, along with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, which isn’t expandable. It’ll have a 5 megapixel rear camera, and a 1.6 megapixel front-facing shooter, if the stats are correct, and will run Jelly Bean 4.1.2.
The screen won’t be overly massive at 4.3 inches, with 720p resolution and 320PPI pixel density, but it should be a good-looking device regardless, with near-Retina resolution. That’s good for showing off Facebook’s upcoming News Feed redesign, which is hitting mobile platforms as well as the desktop over the course of the coming months.
The HTC/Facebook collab should ship in the U.S. by sometime this spring, according to Unwired View, complete with Facebook software onboard, including the app for the network itself, Facebook Messenger, and Instagram. It’s not like the apps aren’t popular enough already, but a relatively inexpensive device with the software already onboard is a way for Facebook to target directly the market where it needs to start seeing more growth. The handset doesn’t seem to be too far below top-tier devices based on these specs (with the exception of that camera, which could use HTC’s Ultrapixel tech to still deliver solid photos), so if it’s priced right it could be a boon for both Facebook and HTC.
