Just under two years ago, HTC’s CEO responded to public pressure by making an equally public promise: “We will no longer be locking the bootloaders on our devices.” Today, that promise is only half-kept by HTC, while other manufacturers have an even spottier record when it comes to keeping the Android ecosystem as “open” as its intended reputation. Corsair unveils $130 Vengeance K70 gaming keyboard with backlit keys

Just a few months after Corsair revealed its high-end K95 mechanical gaming keyboard, the company has unveiled a slightly lower-end K70 for those who want to save a bit of money. Essentially an upgrade to the K60, the K70 still has those Cherry MX Red mechanical switches, but each key is now individually backlit — the backlighting can be adjusted to four levels of intensity and can be independently enabled or disabled. Other features include 20-key rollover, a 1000Hz reporting rate, contoured keycaps for WASD keys, dedicated multimedia controls, a detachable wrist rest and an extra USB connector. The K70 will be available in April for $ 130 in two different color schemes; silver aluminium with blue backlight and anodized black with deep red backlight.

I dunno, could be cool. Probably not as cool as that giant keyboard Tom Hanks jumps around on in ‘Big’, but what is? Nabbing the iPhone from my friend’s hands, I promptly pulled up directions to The Grove despite the inadequacies of Apple’s brand-new Google Maps replacement. While I would certainly rather have the old Google Maps back, I had the ability to work around the quirks and get just what I needed.
On Saturday, my fiancée and I sat down to enjoy a motion picture on Netflix. She simply handed the remote to me as she knew I would certainly have things established in no time: I understood which task to choose on the Consistency One, to switch over on the PS3 and just how to search on the console’s variation of the Netflix application (each one is bizarrely different for some reason).
Yes, she could have gotten us there, but I’m a better motorist. She would certainly have utilized the Netflix app on our connected TV. It works, but it uses the TV’s presenters and I should watch things with marvelous 5.1. Does she care? Not so much.
But she knows that I drive our tech better than she does and she’s delighted to leave it to me.

In Osaka, a local goldfish club has been transforming old phone booths into gigantic public fish tanks. In another large-scale art installation, Babis Panagiotidis used 18,000 recycled computer keys to make a life-size rocking horse. London artist Leonardo Ulian also makes beautiful, ornate mandalas from bits and pieces of old circuitry. And Benjamin Yates makes his unique coffee tables from recycled circuit boards, old VCRs and computer components.
