Pinterest adds Twitter Card support, pinned items now displayed inside tweets

.
A week after Instagram killed support for Twitter Cards, which offer a glance of connected material straight inside a tweet, Pinterest is welcoming the functionality. User Kelly Lieberman was very first to observe that products she was pinning (and sharing on Twitter) can be previewed right from the microblogging solution. Pinterest has given that confirmed to Wired that it began testing the deeper integration last week before the feud in between Instagram and Twitter rose into a full-scale war. Pinterest Twitter Cards show both the pinned blog post and whatever board it’s been conserved to, which enables your fans to quickly jump to your profile page on the sharing site.

Kinsight for Kinect tracks household items, finds the remote for you

Computer scientists at the University of Virginia have developed a way to track household items and help you find lost objects like your phone, keys, wallet, and the infamous remote. Shahriar Nirjon and John Stankovic worked together to create the system which uses two algorithms programmed with the Microsoft Kinect sensor to determine where objects are. The system works by tracking human movement and detecting items that are interacted with. Kinsight also has “context oriented object recognition,” meaning that it can determine where objects are likely to be and can tell similarly-shaped objects apart. What about objects that get buried in the couch, left in a pocket, or buried underneath something else? The Kinsight can tell you…

Amazon Saves Christmas With Free Expedited Shipping For The Kindle And Thousands Of Other Items
Last minute Christmas shoppers, take notice. Amazon has your back. The online retailer announced free expedited shipping on many items. Stop procrastinating and get your Christmas shopping done. Or wait a bit longer. The cut-off is tomorrow night anyway.
Order by 8 pm PT on December 21 for free two-day shipping on the $ 79 Kindle, $ 99 Kindle Touch, $ 149 Kindle Touch 3G and $ 199 Kindle Fire. Amazon is already selling the product family at a rate of more than 1 million units per week and this offer will likely up that count. To take advantage of the offer, shoppers simply need to add the desired Kindle to their shopping cart.
But if the Kindle isn’t on your shopping list, Amazon has an even more tempting offer involving free one-day shipping. The offer only applies to a limited selection of items, but if the order is placed by 11:59 pm PT on December 21, Amazon will throw in free one-day shipping. The expedited shipping will mostly likely get the item to its location with plenty of time for wrapping before Christmas morning.
I say you put off buying your significant other’s gift just a little bit longer. You’ve already waited this long so why not wait a bit longer? Thankfully both of these offers expire tomorrow evening. That leaves plenty of time for more procrastination, right? I mean, you have plenty of time to take advantage of these offers. 36 hours is, like, forever.

Sega Auctions Rare Items For Japanese Relief

A few days after the Japan disaster struck, you could find numerous Japanese gaming companies pledging millions of dollars toward disaster relief. That’s still the case, but I also wanted to mention what Sega of America was doing to help. The company has put a number of items up for auction on eBay, and 100 percent of the proceeds will, naturally, go to disaster relief.
There’s 20 items up for grabs, and a few of the highlights include: a classic Dreamcast “It’s Thinking†hoodie (currently at $ 355); a Sonic the Hedgehog 15th anniversary statue ($ 150); and a one-of-a-kind piece of Outrun outwork signed by Yu Suzuki himself ($ 182).
The auctions are part of the broader Play For Japan organization.
I did also mean to mention the other day that SteelSeries had cut the price of several of its mice models by 25 percent, and that it will give 25 percent of the proceeds from these mice sales toward the Japanese Red Cross Society. This goes through April 15.
