Interactive Music Video You Participate In w/ Your Cursor

Note: Video does contain some brief bare boobie action so make sure to call everybody in the office over before you start it.

This is an interactive music video for the band Light Light’s song ‘Kilo’. You just follow the instructions on the screen as the song plays, then they add your cursor to a new composite video every hour. Whee, you’re in a music video! It’s easy to recognize me because when they ask you to not hover over the nude model I was the one circling the left nip. I’m basically famous now. Want an autograph? “No.” TAKE MY AUTOGRAPH. “This says ‘Give me all your money, I have a knife.’” Haha! I said I’m famous, not rich.

Thanks to Fitz, who has been in numerous music videos before as a backup dancer. So jealous right now.

‘Interactive Fish Tank’ turns water into a capacitive touchscreen

“Interactive Fish Container” is an installation that discovers brand-new, wet limits in touch-based user interfaces. Established in 2011 by Manuela Donoso and Crys Moore, Masters candidates at NYU’s Interactive Telecommunication Program, the piece efficiently turns a bed of water into a capacitive touchscreen, developing a virtual aquarium filled with pixelated goldfish.

With “Fish Storage tank,” individuals can “feed” a swarm of fish by merely tapping their fingers against the area of the water. This creates a bluish circle which the fish– stood for with orange dots– then gather together. The simulated fish will likewise follow a user’s finger as it brushes up throughout the water, as demonstrated in the video below.

You Glow Girl: Barbie Gets An Interactive LED Dress

Don’t worry, I just punched myself in the neck for that whole ‘you glow girl’ thing. I deserved it. And probably much worse. Because we live in the future, and the future shines like the lens flare in a new Star Trek movie, Mattel is releasing a $ 50(!) Barbie with an interactive LED dress. It looks a little short for something I’d let my daughter wear. Well, future daughter. Who am I kidding, my nuts are dry.

[The dress] can be illuminated by 114 tri-color LEDs. The dress is controlled by a 4.5 square inch (29 sq cm) resistive touch panel which can be drawn on with fingers, or an included pink (naturally!) stylus.

Different modes – which are selected by buttons on Barbie’s heart necklace – give users the ability to play a series of ready-to-go graphics, like hearts and fireworks, or draw custom animated designs after selecting their colors of choice. A third mode sees graphics on the dress respond to music and sounds.

When I was growing up our action figures and dolls didn’t have glowing LEDs, if you wanted them to light up you had to SET THEM ON FIRE behind your house while your parents were at work. Those were simpler times.

Speaking today at the D: Dive into Media conference, Microsoft executives Nancy Tellem and Yusuf Mehdi talked about the company’s efforts to create new, original video content that will “hopefully” be rolled out this year. It’s coming out of the newly-minted “Xbox Entertainment Studios” in Los Angeles, with over 150 employees led by Tellem — who came over to Microsoft from CBS last September.

Microsoft, however, isn’t taking the same tack as Netflix in creating its original content — instead it’s taking a very Microsoftian approach that will leverage the many advantages the company already has in the living room. Microsoft aquires R2 Studios, appoints founder Blake Krikorian to Interactive Entertainment business

Following up on reports from last week, Microsoft has confirmed that it has acquired R2 Studios, a startup that was working on home automation technologies. While no details of the deal have been revealed, Microsoft has made it clear that this purchase was made in part to bring R2 Studios founder Blake Krikorian into the company’s fold. With the acquisition, Microsoft has announced that Krikorian will be placed as the corporate vice president of the company’s Interactive Entertainment business, which runs Xbox, Zune Marketplace, and Xbox Live. Krikorian was previously the co-founder and chairman of Sling Media.
