Microsoft believes it can sell 25 million more Xbox 360s despite announcing the console’s successor, the Xbox One, earlier this week. The Xbox 360 launched back in 2005, and has sold an estimated 77.2 million to date. Growth has slowed significantly in recent months (despite the console outselling the PS3 in the US for over two years straight), and it only sold 1.3 million last quarter. Speaking to the UK’s Official Xbox Magazine, Interactive Entertainment Business Senior VP Yusuf Mehdi said that Microsoft is aiming to sell the additional consoles over the next five years.

Gigabot is a huge consumer 3D printer awaiting your Kickstarter dollars (video)

Gigabot 3D printer

The standard plant of 3D printers are all well and good, however what about those times when you should print something actually, truly big? Gigabot’s hoping to fill in that gaping void with a construct envelope of 24 x 24 x 24 inches– 30 times the volume of a common customer device, by its estimations. The device is a beast, normally– and metal one, at that. It’s so huge, in truth, that it can support a full-sized laptop sitting atop a connected arm.

The project is the brainchild of re:3 D, an Austin-based start-up, which has counted on Kickstarter to help bring the Gigabot into the globe– and from the looks of it, the company should hit its $ 40,000 objective, no trouble. You could pick one of these up for a $ 2,500 pledge, which gets you everything thing you have to construct one at estate. Video of the printer in action after the break.

Nikon’s seven new Coolpix cameras bet big on huge zoom and Wi-Fi

Nikon Coolpix S9500

Nikon was quiet at this year’s CES, announcing just the J3 and S1 interchangeable cameras, but apparently it was just biding its time: the company’s now announced seven new Coolpix cameras, essentially overhauling its point-and-shoot lineup in one fell swoop. At the top of the lineup is the new Coolpix P520 (the successor to the P510, which will still be sold), which offers a ridiculous 42x zoom, plus an 18-megapixel sensor and a 3.2-inch tilting LCD. The $ 449.95 camera also comes with GPS built in, plus support for Nikon’s WU-1a Wi-Fi adapter.

Big zoom and Wi-Fi are common themes with Nikon’s new Coolpix models, as is ruggedization. The $ 349.95 AW110 is shockproof to 6.5 feet, waterproof to 60 feet, and freezeproof to -14 degrees…

LG Optimus G Pro With 5-inch HD Display And Huge 3,000mAh Battery Shows Face In Japanese Leak

optproo600-1358503455

The LG Optimus G Pro, a successor to LG ’ s flagship Optimus G smartphone, looks to be preparing for a Japanese launch at least, according a couple different leakages this morning. Engadget has managed to secure a slide supposedly showing the phone ’ s design and detailing its specs, and the Japan-based Blog site of Mobile individually got a spec listing that fits with the info received by Engadget.

The Optimus G Pro will introduce on NTT Docomo in Japan if the leaks show real, running Android 4.1 Jellly Grain, and featuring a quad-core, 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage space. The big improvements for the Optimus G Pro over its namesake predecessor are the bigger 5-inch, 1080p HD screen and a 3,000 mAh battery included to help better power all those pixels. It likewise apparently includes a 13-megapixel back and 2.4 megapixel front camera.

LG ’ s Optimus G is actually a fairly superb phone, as is the Google Nexus 4, which in many means is just the Optimus G in a various body case. The Optimus G Pro aims to essentially just contribute to the strengths of its predecessor, with a new streamlined design that I ’ d suggest beats either the AT&T or the Sprint variation of the Optimus G in the looks division, and it ought to come in both “ Platinum White ” and “ Indigo Black ” variations, at least for its Japanese market launch.

As early as last November we ’ d heard whispers of the LG Optimus G successor coming by Might2013, and among its expected attributes were the 5-inch, 1080p display that ’ s being discussed now. At the time, Chris Velazco lamented the possibility that the Optimus G successor may ship with a battery insufficient to driving that display, however if these brand-new leakages are accurate, it looks like that ’ s something LG ’ s engineers have actually made sure to keep in mind.
