MSI has a strong reputation in the gaming laptop room: their laptop computers are usually rather powerful, heinous monstrosities that get the job done at a fair rate. The MSI GT70 fits the mold rather perfectly. While it isn & rsquo; t rather as garish as its forbears, it ticks all of the appropriate & ldquo; gaming desktop computer replacement & rdquo; boxes: hefty, loud, and stuffed to its plastic grilles with performance oriented goodies.
The GT70 I examined packs a quad-core Intel Ivy Bridge cpu, 16GB of RAM, an Nvidia GeForce GTX 670M GPU, and a pair of SSDs in RAID 0, to start. All that for a mere $ 2,000– not reasonable, but in fact not a bad promotion. Is it worth the rate? You & rsquo; ll have to keep checking out to learn.

We sure hope you like surprises, because we’ve got a good one for you. It seems as if MSI wasn’t quite pleased with the killer graphics on its feature-loaded GT70 laptop and decided to give it a quick boost. Earlier today, the outfit announced its fresh gaming machine will now ship with NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 675M GPU instead of that already powerful GTX 670M found in our review unit. MSI says the change was driven by the company’s beliefs that “exceptional performance starts with outstanding components,” and, needless to say, we’re certain you’d agree.
