Hi Kay…I really think that the people who do this type of design are mixtures of engineering and daydreamers . They sometimes vision the response to problems in a way the rest of the world just seems to miss. If your that person you should have no problem putting your efforts to work for you. However if your a follower of trends who would rather work a few hours then split for the beach,maybe not. The job your asking about seems to fit the person or should I say the person fits the job..I really don’t know ..is it competitive between the companies ? you bet…between the employees hardly. They sort of live for the moment where the newest material is born or perhaps a company has succeeded in putting 1k more transistors on a chip or the power has been reduced 100watts ..Or in many cases until the little thing they worked on for ten years like fluid logic comes into play. Is it difficult to get a job…It could be ..with the right education and the right tutors and know the right people anything can happen.. I can guarantee this though if you hang out with people who do what you want to do it rubs off..this hold true in school and in life and in getting that job. Ok i’m off the apple cart now…Go forth and make robots and sin no more….or something like that…From the E..

I found this link online to IRI 2007 which stands for “Information Reuse and Integration.” I think this link shows information about the 2007 year conference. There must be another one happening in 2009. It looks to be sponsored by IEEE/SMC. SMC stands for “Systems, Man and Cybernetics”, which I believe has a lot to do with Robotics.
