Samsung’s HDTV-based Smart Hub is set to land a major refresh at CES, according to a trio of images and a product description that appeared on Flickr this evening. Like previous iterations, the software interface will provide access to real-time TV broadcasts, on-demand flicks, apps and photos, according to the site’s image captions. The new version will feature a new background design, along with a “simplified” UI. While the on-screen interface appears to be new, the screen shot is presented atop last year’s Series 8 model, including an identical stand and a built-in camera up top — there’s no hint at what hardware advances we may see in Vegas early next year. Samsung’s CES press conference is on the books for the afternoon of Monday, January 7th, so we have less than two weeks to go before this new UI — and a whole lot of HDTVs — becomes official.

As we mentioned last week, TechCrunch will be at CES this year with camera in hand. Our objective is two-fold: to run around the occasion with our live stream competing many of every day while, at periods throughout the day, we emphasize fantastic start-ups and gadgetry on our incredible outside stage. Basically, it will be like absolutely nothing we ’ ve done before and it looks like it ’ s going to be impressive.

We ’ ve got a bunch of things scheduled, but here ’ s a sampling of the cool stuff we ’ ll be streaming through UStream in a few weeks. Keep in mind that we ’ ll be doing live giveaways from the program floor and you ’ ll have the ability to tweet at us all day long as we roam the halls.

Monday, January 7

Startup Tour – All day. We ’ ll be going to LV-area start ups for most of the day, broadcasting live from Sin City. Wish to participate? Head over right here to submit your details.

Tuesday, January 8

Stage Meetings – 10am-12pm – Live streaming from show business and show flooring.
TechCrunch Gadgets Live – 1pm – A live show with giveaways, meetings, and merriment.
Showstoppers – 6pm – We ’ ll be broadcasting live from Showstoppers, among the coolest side occasions at CES.

Wednesday, January 9

Live stream – 9am-4pm – Live streaming the occasion. We ’ ll be hitting the Chinese electronic devices hall on the 9th where we ’ ll get to see LEDs, parts, and enough OEM devices to choke a horse.

After a year of living in beta, Chrome Remote Desktop computer is finally prepared for primetime. Just like other display sharing services like LogMeIn and Splashtop, Chrome Remote Personal computer lets you gain access to other computers remotely. Of course, it is special to the Chrome browser, and by extension, the Chrome OS. The most up to date variation of the application adds a couple of brand-new functions like a real-time audio feed for Windows individuals and the potential to copy-and-paste between remote and neighborhood pcs.
