Microsoft posts Build 2012 session videos for eager Windows 8, Windows Phone 8 coders
Not every developer had the privilege of putting an air travel to Redmond on the business tab so that they can go to Microsoft’s Build 2012 seminar in individual. Much to their pleasure, they won’t have to. The business has posted streaming video for every session resolving Windows 8, Windows Phone 8 and past, extending from the two keynotes through to nuts-and-bolts framework talks. Be alerted: most programmers will certainly wish to know Visual Studio and similar tools like the back of their hand prior to tackling a few of these sessions. If they emerge unharmed, though, they’ll be well-equipped to stay in Microsoft’s Windows Shop globe.

SteelSeries announces Sensei Major League Gaming edition, keeps palms eager until August
For most of us, the humble mouse is but a tool for effective computer navigation, for gamers though, it’s a matter of life and (virtual) death. SteelSeries knows this, and hopes its new Sensei Major League Gaming edition mouse will keep a few more of its faithful out of the MASH. It looks like much of the credentials of the original Sensei have been kept intact, the same 10.8-megapixel sensor, the 150 inches per second movement detection, 32-bit ARM processor, LCD display and so on. What’s new then? For the main part, the CPI, which can now go from one to 8,200, or all the way to 16,400 if you use the double CPI feature. You’ll have to wait until August to get your hand on it, with pre-orders (but no price as yet) set to open at the MLG Championship next week.

Study: Verizon Wireless and HTC most eager to provide Android 2.2 updates

Look, if you buy a carrier-branded Android handset, you should know good and well that you may never see the first Android update. It ain’t easy to hear, but as mama always said, the truth ain’t always painless. That said, there’s still some research you should do before picking a phone and carrier, and ComputerWorld has seemingly done just that for you. The methodology is all explained down in the source link, but the long and short of it is this: in the last half of 2010, Verizon upgraded 33 percent of its sub-2.2 phones to Froyo, while Sprint updated just 28.6 percent of its stable and T-Mobile blessed only 12.5 percent of its phones with the new digs. AT&T bashers should take note, as Ma Bell didn’t update a single one of its nine Android phones during the June-December 2010 time period. Yeah, ouch. Over on the handset side, we’ve got HTC gifting half of its devices with Froyo, while Motorola comes in second with 15.4 percent and Samsung third with 11.1 percent. No matter how you slice it, it’s a depressing study to look at, and it probably makes your decision to skip over a Nexus One seem all the more idiotic in retrospect. But hey, at least there’s the Nexus S to console you… if you’re willing to sign up with T-Mob, that is.

Motorola ‘eager’ to get into tablet market, but won’t do so until next year

Motorola’s been thinking about tablets for a while now, but according to Sanjay Jha, it won’t be entering that flourishing new market segment until it’s absolutely certain it’ll have a product that’s “competitive in the marketplace.” Depending on how you perceive the Droid X, Moto might arguably be said to already have a tablet out on sale, but rumors have mostly circulated around a 10-inch slate device, most probably in partnership with Verizon and most likely using Android 3.0 as its OS. Google itself has admitted that Android won’t be fit for tablets until Gingerbread is delivered, and Jha’s reluctance to introduce any new hardware before 2011 seems to be motivated by a corresponding desire to have the latest and greatest version on board from the start. Can’t say we blame him.

Skype eager to work with Apple FaceTime, pretty much anyone else

We’re still playing the wait-and-see game when it comes to Skype on webOS and Windows Phone 7, but it looks as if to-be iPhone 4 owners won’t have to wait long before Skype-based video chatting becomes a reality… if Skype has its way, that is. According to someone on the inside quoted over at Pocket-Lint, Skype “would welcome the opportunity to work with Apple,” specifically in reference to integrating FaceTime capabilities into the firm’s own app. The mystery man also affirmed that Skype would “welcome the opportunity to work with Apple to bring mobile video calling not only to our many millions of Skype users on iPhone around the world, but also to the countless more making video calls on desktops, TVs and other connected devices.” ‘Course, there’s no specific time frame given, and only Jobs knows if the two companies have said a word to one another about making this happen. One thing’s for sure, though — enabling FaceTime usage within Skype would suddenly made the iPhone 4′s video calling abilities a whole lot more appealing. And by “appealing,” we mean “useful.”
