Pirate Bay documentary now streaming, up for download on (surprise!) The Pirate Bay

Means back in 2010, filmmaker Simon Klose petitioned people on Kickstarter for $ 25,000 to employ an expert to video editor. The pro’s task? Sorting through and modifying over 200 hours of footage Klose had actually tape-recorded that chronicles the trip of The Pirate Bay’s 3 founders throughout their trial. Now, over two years later on and after the case’s conclusion, the documentary has premiered at the Berlin International Film Celebration and is now readily available for your seeing satisfaction. Sure, you could watch the whole hour and twenty minute-long affair in 1080p on YouTube, but what would be more fitting than legally downloading it (thanks to an imaginative commons license) through The Pirate Bay? Mermaids Are Real, The Animal Planet Documentary (Complete With Government Conspiracies!)

mermaids-are-real.jpg

This is an hour and a half documentary from the Animal Planet that none of you are going to watch, highlighting evidence that mermaids are real. Namely, a recording of mermaids talking to dolphins, as well as the body of one recovered from the stomach of a great white. I’d be lying if I told you I watched the whole thing, but only because I don’t need to watch an hour and a half long video to know merpeople are real. I’ve seen one folks — he saved me from drowning. “That was a beach lifeguard.” Please, if it was just a lifeguard then why would I have tried to kiss him? “You said he was hunky.” He was a total dreamcicle.

Hit the jump for the NOTE: this is entirely fake by the way. Probably should have mentioned that earlier. Still, send it to your mom and get her to forward it to everyone she knows.

Watch this: ‘Free the Network’ documentary

free the network map

Motherboard has released its feature documentary, Free the Network, which takes a look at the work being done by some young activists to supplant the corporate-controlled internet with a new, uncensorable, user-controlled network. The 30-minute piece follows hacker Isaac Wilder and his Free Network Foundation from providing internet access to the Occupy activists in Zuccotti Park, to their aspirations for user-owned fiber backbones; and includes commentary from journalist Melissa Gira Grant and author and media critic Douglas Rushkoff. We found the film really works as a snapshot of the movement, conveying its triumphs and setbacks, and educating viewers about the physical infrastructure underlying the internet — control of which…

The Burning Times Documentary – Part 6

The Burning Times Documentary - Part 6

This beautifully crafted film is an in-depth look at the witch-hunts that swept through Europe just a few hundred years ago. False accusations and trials led to massive torture and burnings at the stake, and ultimately to the destruction of an organic way of life. The film advances the theory that widespread violence against women and the neglect of our environment today can be traced back to those times. Part two of a series of three films on women and spirituality, which includes Goddess Remembered and Full Circle. ——— NOTE ABOUT COMMENT POLICY: I do moderate comments for this video series, because it is a sensitive topic. I want women to feel comfortable, and to promote an environment of productive understanding. Comments that I decide are sexist, hateful, bigoted or just unproductive won’t be approved.
