27″ iMac Image Retention Defect

Fast payday loans For Every One

Image retention problem with a brand new 27″ iMac (late 2012 model) purchased at work. Apple Store folks call it image persistence, and I refer to it as after-images below. Apple is replacing the computer for free. – Doesn’t happen until the system is warm. – The after-images are most visible on a dark gray background, and are invisible against a very bright or completely black background. – When the problem first starts to kick in as the system warms up, blue after-images show up first, followed by green. – Certain blue or magenta images result blue after-images. – Certain white or yellow images result in green after-images. – Green after-images are far more common than blue after-images. – After system is warm, it takes about two minutes for an after-image to become noticeable, and it becomes strongest after about 5 minutes. – Takes about 20-30 minutes for strong after-image to fade away after switching to a dark gray background. – Rebooting doesn’t clear an after-image.

Most BlackBerry users plan to defect to iPhone or Android

Nielsen put out some interesting smartphone numbers today. There’s the usual market share numbers that put Google, RIM, and Apple at 27 percent, 33 percent, and 23 percent in sales to new smartphone subscribers. But more interesting are the numbers having to do with brand loyalty.

Those numbers don’t look good for BlackBerry. Here’s how it breaks down. 89 percent of iPhone owners plan on getting another iPhone, while 71 percent of Android buyers plan to re-buy, but only 42 percent of BlackBerry owners plan to stick around.

Of the defectors, 29 percent plan to go with an iPhone, and 21 percent to go to Android.

Apple’s callous response to iPhone 4 defect matched only by its fanboys’ blind dedication

What’s more sad: the very fact that the iPhone 4 is completely unusable if you’re left-handed—President Obama is left-handed!— or that Apple fanboys are doing everything in their power to divert attention away from the issue? Check MacRumors. It’s a fine site, yes, and one I read every day, but to call it an “Apple fan site” would be like calling the Sun hot. “Upset that your brand new iPhone 4 doesn’t work? Don’t be: other phones do this, too!” Because that’s what you want to hear: your phone may be a piece of junk, but so is the other guy’s phone, so it all works out. Um, no. It doesn’t work like that.
