Apple Stores rumored carrying Nest thermostats, we play it cool (to exactly 71F)

Tony Fadell might have left Apple to make the Nest Learning Thermostat, but it may be the case that Apple hasn’t completely left him. If we go by a pair of rumors, Nest’s Internet-savvy climate control could soon be in Apple Stores, presumably across the US, for the same $ 249 as it costs to splurge for one through Nest itself. We’re definitely skeptical — home appliances and automation aren’t really Apple’s strong suits, and Nest has already declined to comment — but 9to5 Mac has heard that the thermostats are already in Apple’s inventory system. If the reports are at all true, there won’t be long to wait before you can buy a smart energy system while you’re shopping for a new iPhone case.

Target to stop carrying Amazon Kindle hardware due to ‘conflict of interest’?

Since Target stores began selling Amazon’s Kindle line back in 2010, the devices have always appeared to do well; the Kindle Fire was even the retailer’s best-selling tablet during Black Friday last year. It appears that’s about to change, however, with a source telling us that the company is going to stop carrying the line of products due to a “conflict of interest.” According to an internal Target memo we’ve received, the company will be removing Amazon hardware from its locations starting this month. Certain accessories will remain in stock, but shipments of Kindles themselves will cease as of May 13th.
A quick search through Target’s online store reveals that Amazon’s e-readers have already vanished from its listings, and the K…

“Hi All. I purchased a 2011 Mac Mini with dedicated graphics for PhotoShop and InDesign. I’ve grown tired of my Core 2 Duo Laptop, instead I want to bring my Mac Mini to and from work (I’ve got display, keyboard and mouse at both places so it’s not a problem). It might be a weird idea, I wanna try it. Any suggestions on what I can use to carry it, as long as its discrete as I commute quite a bit. Thanks!”
Well, we’re impressed by his commitment and his plan, but has anyone else made the leap and lived to tell the tale? We’ve never seen a mac at a LAN party, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t some exquisite accessories available for the purpose. One, two, you know what to do.

When was the last time you rode in a electric vehicle almost entirely constructed of carbon fiber, and good for 250 miles on a charge? We’re laying odds on “never,” which is why we turned a shade of violent green when we saw Fully Charged host (and part-time Series 4000 Mechanoid) Robert Llewellyn set foot in just such a car. Delta Motorsport’s E4 Coupe, originally designed to win an Automotive X-Prize, is the vehicle we’re referring to here, and despite the fact that only one-third of its full projected power was available to coax Mr. Llewellyn firmly into his racing seat (four-wheel drive and regenerative braking are also TBD) and set his teeth on edge, we have to give the man some major props for documenting the experience for us on film.
