WARNING: F-bombs and other choice words.
This is a prank from some beauty parlor where patrons see a ghost face in the mirror in front of them (an actual person behind a two-way mirror) when they’re getting their hair did. Plus there’s a scary movie playing on the TV. Then, the real kicker — the demon girl actually comes out and starts backwards-crawling around the place. I — wow — I would have stabbed her with a pair of scissors and demanded a free blowout for exorcising the salon.
Hit the jump for the video, it’s pretty good.

YouTube user STLTransit has a wonderful collection of videos that visualize the movements of the public transit systems of various locations — turning public transit data into a visualization of a city’s pulse. Each video shows the ebb and flow of traffic during a single day, with various transit systems like bus and rail shown in different colors. The result is a brief but exciting glimpse at human life — a satellite’s view of a city’s living protoplasm on the streets below.

Once Upon a Dream from the Disney film, Sleeping Beauty, 1959. Copyright Disney. Lyrics: [Briar Rose:] I wonder, I wonder, I wonder why each little bird has a someone To sing to, sweet things to, A gay little love melody I wonder, I wonder, I wonder if my heart keeps singing, Will my song go winging To someone, who’ll find me And bring back a love song to me. [Briar Rose:] I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream I know you, the gleam in your eyes is so familiar a-gleam Yet I know it’s true that visions are seldom all they seem But if I know you, I know what you do, You’ll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream But if I know you, I know what you do, You love me at once, [Prince Phillip and Briar Rose:] The way you did once upon a dream [Prince Phillip:] I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream I know you, the gleam in your eyes is so familiar a-gleam [Chorus:] And I know it’s true that visions are seldom all they seem But if I know you, I know what you do, You love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream.
Know what’s kicking and screaming its way into obsolescence? If you guessed the N900, pat yourself on the back with this hack. Nokia’s internetting tablet that simply refuses to quit has already run the multi-purpose gamut, standing in as a brain scanner / replacement, OS dual-booter and Ice Cream Sandwich biter — just to name a few. Now, a homebrew mod from Polish hacker Emeryth, has that soon-to-be retro QWERTY slider sporting a custom gamepad to make those long hours logged into video game emulation that much more thumb-friendly. The exposed overlay is based on an ATmega8A microcontroller and plugs directly into the device’s USB port, giving gamers an eight button solution, plus a PSP-like analog stick. It’s a handy, albeit ugly, add-on that’ll help get your gaming heros of old through well trodden enemy lines. Video demo lies in wait after the break.
Back at CES, we spent a long time waiting for Lady Gaga to show up (again) and introduce her new product line, a collaboration with Polaroid called Grey Label. The camera sunglasses and Bluetooth printer didn’t exactly blow our socks off, but the GL30 camera prototype sure did. It was beautiful. Of course, no matter how much I bugged Polaroid, I never got word one about availability or what have you. And then this thing turns up!
Now, I’m not convinced this is the same product we saw at CES. A relative of that product, perhaps, but not the real thing. I refuse to believe that they’d throw away a perfectly good design like that, one associated with Gaga herself. So what is this?
The Z340, which ePhotozine previews here, has similarities with the prototype GL30, but I’m not digging the differences. Gone is the shiny veneer and bellows motif. Gone are the (slightly impractical, I’m guessing) controls under the LCD. The shots show an interface that isn’t particularly lovable, and although I don’t want to bash it too much without trying it, that forest of buttons doesn’t look like a lot of fun. I down with Zink, but this isn’t something I’d like to carry around with me.
Polaroid hasn’t gotten back to me, and we weren’t invited to the hands-on party (sniff), so until we hear about the fate of the actual GL30, it’s anybody’s guess how this thing fits in. All we know is it costs £229.99 (around $ 375) and it’ll be available in December.
Well, look what we have here. It’s the LG P220′s big brother, the P330, and, as you can tell, good looks run in the family. Glancing at the spec sheet (after the break) it’s pretty clear this guy has been hitting the gym — there’s plenty of muscle inside in the form of an NVIDIA GT 555m. This 13.3-inch laptop isn’t just some meathead though, it’s got brains to spare thanks to a Sandy Bridge class Core i7. But, that’s not all — it’s also a sharp dresser that looks quite fetching in its magnesium and aluminum suit, and just try not to get lost staring into that beautiful IPS screen. We don’t know how much you’ll have to shell out to spend time with this svelte 3.6-pound beauty, but it should be making the retail rounds this September.

Sharp isn’t apt to sell but 15,000 of its Touch Wood SH-08C handsets, but after watching the ad below, you can bet there will be demand for more. It’s a bit baffling to think of the trouble Drill, Inc. went through in order to assemble the pieces necessary for a wooden ball to trickle down a homegrown marimba, particularly in the midst of Kyushu, Japan’s woodlands. Kenjiro Matsuo was responsible for the creation of the instrument, while Morihiro Harano is being handed credit for the idea itself; in fact, he confirmed to The New York Times that no artificial music was added whatsoever, with only the background levels being adjusted up for effect. You may have never listened to a piece of classic music in your life, but you’re sorely missing out if you ignore Bach’s Cantata 147, “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.” Or, at least the version in that video below.
