Lightroom for iPad briefly appears on Adobe’s site before being pulled

Photo editors could get an important mobile app from Adobe soon. According to a listing posted earlier this week on the company’s website, Lightroom could be coming to the iPad. As 9to5Mac reported, the product listing was up for a brief period of time before it was quickly taken down. The mobile software was priced at $ 99 per year with a cloud subscription, allowing you to sync photos between your computer and your iPad. The rumored feature would match up well with Lightroom’s reported tagline: “Take Lightroom anywhere.”

This isn’t the first we’ve heard of a mobile Lightroom app — the company has been planning a program like this since early 2013 when it demoed a Lightroom-style mobile app on The Grid, an online show from Photoshop…

Mystery rock suddenly appears near Mars rover, puzzling scientists

A “jelly doughnut-sized” rock has appeared in front of the Opportunity rover on Mars, and scientists can’t figure out where it came from, Discovery News reports. The discovery was revealed by Mars Exploration Rover lead scientist Steve Squyres in a “10 years of roving Mars” keynote at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory last night. “Mars keeps throwing new stuff at us!” he exclaimed, discussing past rover findings, but this time, he meant it literally.

The rock, which scientists have dubbed “Pinnacle Island,” appeared in front of Opportunity for one of two reasons, NASA says: the rover flipped the rock as it maneuvered, or the rock landed there after a nearby meteorite impact. Either way, the intrepid Opportunity now has something new to…

Google Glass accessory store appears

Google is ramping up production of its Glass headset, and it appears the company is preparing to sell accessories for the wearable computer too. Some Glass Explorers have noticed a new Glass accessory store which will sell additional chargers, microfiber pouches, clear protective shields, the new mono earbud that will soon come with updated Glass headsets, and presumably other accessories as they become available.

They won’t come cheap, though, if screenshots of the early website are accurate. Google has priced the new mono earbud, the micro-fiber pouch and the cable / charger combo at $ 50 each, with the clear shield priced at $ 75. New references to the Glass accessory store on Google’s Glass help website also mention a sunglasses…

Why A Chain Falling Out Of A Cup Appears To Defy Gravity

chain-defying-gravity.jpg

This is a video describing why a chain falling out of a cup appears to levitate briefly prior to spilling to the ground. Generally the chain gathers so much upward momentum while leaving the cup that it cannot alter instructions right away, and needs to do so in an arc rising from the cup. Does that make good sense? I’m attempting my finest to discuss it however I did get fired from teaching science for telling my students that air and rock are chemical elements.

Hit the jump for a video of the chain falling, then a longer, explanatory video.

Samsung Galaxy NX mirrorless camera appears in press shots, may launch later this month

Samsung Galaxy NX mirrorless camera appears in press shots, launch expected later this month

Samsung’s mobile chief JK Shin hinted that the company would soon be announcing an Android-powered mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera, and now the Galaxy NX is all but official. In press shots appearing on a Vietnamese gadget site, the device is pictured with a mirrorless mount and a trio of NX lenses. Judging from the body, the camera is likely to be closer in size to a DSLR than Samsung’s existing CSC lineup, with a large touchscreen occupying much of the rear.

Hardware controls are few and far between, and may be limited to a shutter release, video capture button, top-mounted dial and a pop-up flash release, along with the compulsory lens release to the left of the swappable optic. It’s said to include Android 4.2, a 20.3-megapixel APS-C sensor, ISO sensitivity through 25,600 and 1080p video capture. Pricing info is still up in the air, as is an official announce date, which could very well be as soon as Samsung’s June 20th event in London. Hit up the source for a few more shots.

Lumia928billboard_large

Nokia’s Lumia 928 for Verizon has long been rumored, but an alleged billboard poster appears to hint that its arrival is imminent. My Nokia Blog spotted a billboard for Nokia’s Lumia 928, complete with new renders of the device. The Finnish smartphone maker claims in the ad that the 928 has “the best low-light smartphone camera,” alongside Verizon and Windows Phone logos.

The photos of the rear of the device match previously leaked images complete with the new Xenon flash.
