That Was Fast. Apple’s “Delicious” iPad Ad Remixed Already
Who in the world has the time in the middle of the working day to make flamebait changes to an Apple ad? Who could this handsome mystery man be? We’ll never know.
Needless to say, we here at CrunchGear do not share the opinion of this rogue hater. The iPad is a delightful device, in no way described by the inflammatory words in the above video (which we do not recommend watching).

Sony says developers are already working on PlayStation 4 games
src="http://www.slipperybrick.com/index.php?feedimage=wp-content/uploads/2010/05/sonyps3-sg.jpg" alt="" title="sonyps3-sg" width="500" height="324" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-45269" />We don’t have many details, but according to a recent edition of Game Informer Australia, Sony has stated that developers are already getting games ready for the as yet unannounced PlayStation 4. Sony’s PlayStation 3 has been with us for several years now, so it’s entirely possible.
Speculation is that the next-generation console will arrive by 2012. It makes sense as developers need time to develop games way ahead of launch and they need to get familiar with the hardware. I guess we will see.
Still the PS3 has tons of life left.

What Did Apple Buy When It Bought LiquidMetal? If You Like Watches, You’ve Already Seen It
If you remember, Apple bought LiquidMetal’s patents last week, allowing the company to create “fluid” metal surfaces in its devices. While there has been plenty of talk about Terminator-like iPhones that flow under and around doors and windows to kill John Connor, but if you’ve seen an Omega watch recently, you’ve already seen liquid metal.
Hodinkee has a video of the Omega Liquidmetal bezel and they note that Omega will not be forced to stop using the technology after Apple’s patent buy.
Essentially, Omega “embeds” liquid metal into the cavities etched into their bezel rings. The metal will remain there indefinitely, never popping out and giving the bezel very high-tech touch.
This also points to some of the potential use for liquid metal in Apple’s manufacturing process including applied Apple logos inside a ceramic body. Quite a few parallels can be drawn between someone like Omega and Apple. Both use excellent materials to make beautiful devices and both add quite a mark-up when you come right down to it.

Lookout’s App Genome Project warns about sketchy apps you may have already downloaded

If you’re an iPhone user, the only privacy notice you’ll see from an app regards your current location — as much a warning about the associated battery hit from the GPS pinging as anything. If you’re an Android user, however, things are different, with a tap-through dialog showing you exactly what each app will access on your phone. But, do you read them? You should, with Lookout running a sort of survey across 300,000 apps on those two platforms, finding that many access personal information even though they seemingly don’t need to. One particularly scary instance, an app called Jackeey Wallpaper on Android, aggregates your browsing history, voicemail password, text messages, and even your SIM ID and beams it all to a server in China. That this app has been downloaded millions of times is a little disconcerting, but it’s not just Android users that have to fear, as even more iPhone than Android apps take a look through your contact infos. What to do? Well, be careful what you download to start, on Android read those privacy warnings… and we’re sure Lookout wouldn’t mind if you took this opportunity to download its security app.

Android 2.2 upgrade for Droid X may already be trickling out, other Droids shortly?

We’ve already gathered that Verizon, Moto, and HTC all seem to be pretty well committed to bumping most of their Droid models to Froyo (as well they should), but things are starting to get real — really real. First off, we’ve been fed a shot of a tipster’s Droid X that has apparently already been blessed with 2.2 over the air; the baseband version is a tick older than the one in a shot leaked over on My Droid Life, but it’s anyone’s guess how Motorola is staging this and what the final gold binary really contains. We’ve also seen a 2.2 ROM for the Droid Incredible leak recently (and the Droid before that), so uncorroborated rumors we’re seeing that three of the four retail Droids will be getting 2.2 by the 15th of next month aren’t necessarily crazy. Remember: think positive thoughts.

Have your Droid X already? Verizon figured out how to activate it

Word on the street is that only 170 Droid X handsets have leaked out from the mothership so far, but in the off chance you’re in that elite group of early early adopters, it seems Verizon has cured a snag that was preventing you from activating the phone on its network. As of Friday afternoon, it’s said that “system provisions were put in place” to allow the beasts to be used the way Motorola intended, so go forth and put that crusty old V3m out of its misery. Oh, and as for the rest of you: well, keep on waiting a few more days.

Droid X already knocking on buyers’ doors?

This seems to happen with virtually every hotly-anticipated device Verizon ever offers, so we can’t say we’re too surprised to hear rumors that Motorola’s Droid X has already started showing up in customers’ hands. Usually, this happens through a combination of persistence, repeated calls to customers service, and finding just the right rep who doesn’t realize that he or she shouldn’t be selling a particular device yet — but in the case of the Droid X, Verizon’s been teasing the launch with its @DroidLanding Twitter account, saying “you might get yours before” the official July 15 release. In other words, we think we’re in the process of getting punked by some viral marketing… but hey, if you’re getting punked by something, it might as well be one of the baddest-ass Android phones around.
