The Alienware line just got a little brother, its Mac Mini if you will. The X51 is the gaming company’s smallest form factor desktop to date. But, since it’s an Alienware, it still packs plenty of gaming horsepower and customizable options.

The X51 signals an interesting departure from the standard Alienware. The Dell brand has long unabashedly sold massive gaming beasts. The bigger the better. But the X51 shows that gamers are looking to smaller form factors. The Mini-ITX system isn’t as small as a Mac Mini, but is rather the size of a traditional desktop. This new system can be oriented vertically or sit on its side allowing it to go on a desk or fit in an entertainment system — that is, of course, if you want a glowing desktop under your HDTV.
Look for the X51 to start shipping next week.

Apple has just reduced the price of the lowest tier of refurbished MacBook Air to $ 699 — I’ve just seen it pop up on a couple news sites. One would think that the option of getting for such a low price what was a year ago an object of envy would make it a no-brainer. But it is the old version of the famously flat laptop, and although it may seem superfluous to point this out, I feel I should warn our readers that to take advantage of this deal is to buy yourself some grief.
This version of the MacBook Air debuted in October 2010, and it has a Core2 Duo processor that has roots going back to 2008 and before. It was outdated when it first showed up, and it’s a dog now.
For $ 700 you should be getting a modern computer, and these MBAs ain’t one of those. Only the most recent update makes the laptop worth using for “serious” computing like managing big photo libraries or editing video. If you want to browse the web and watch movies, $ 700 will buy you a giant screen, modern processor, 4 gigs of RAM, and maybe even a Blu-ray drive.
And if you have your mind set on a MacBook Air (and I don’t blame you, I’m using a new one now and they’re solid), avoid the old ones at all costs! The new ones will be all over the place used and for sale prices around the holidays, so don’t fall for fire-sale prices on junk inventory that would have been overpriced a year ago.

BGR has word from a source that the TouchPad will be launching in June for $ 699. Sounds about right to me — any later, and their goose is cooked. I’m not sure $ 699 is going to pull a lot of people, though, since what HP is selling is a little more subtle than Android, and the average consumer might not be able to pull themselves away from the default iPad, especially if the update hits and pushes down prices on the original. We’ll see, though. It’s all speculation right now.

Similar to the path we saw Celio’s REDFLY take, Litl’s Webbook is slowly (but surely, we’re afraid) creeping towards complete and utter irrelevance, boasting a design that’s too niche to gain traction in the mainstream, a hardware lineup that’s too last year and a price that’s still far higher than some of the more reputable netbooks on the market today. After just six short months on the market, the company’s easel-styled laptop has fallen from $699 to $399, but during that same window of time, Intel has launched all new Atoms, tablet PCs have begun their assimilation on Planet Earth and HP has purchased Palm. Yeah, that last tidbit has precisely zero pertinence to the discussion at hand, but we bet even the engineers at Litl would’ve laughed you out of town had you told ‘em that would happen back in November of ’09.
