Mobile apps that track the direction you run are absolutely nothing new, however athletic application producer Runtastic is taking a somewhat different approach with an update to its Runtastic Pro app: turning your athletic trips into flicks courtesy of Google Earth. The current variation of its Runtastic Pro app for Android takes the GPS data gathered from a provided run, and uses it to develop a video clip with Google Earth photos, offering a birds-eye view of your activity along with on-screen pace, time, and elevation indicators. The video clips even use Runtastic’s “live cheering” characteristic to bring drama to the end product.
