RIM may sell handset business, according to The Sunday Times

The Sunday Times reports today that RIM is thinking about a plan to split its handset division and messaging network into two different business, and will offer off the struggling BlackBerry hardware business. The British paper does not cite any sources in the report, but it states that Facebook and Amazon are both “possible purchasers.” As part of this plan, RIM might either keep its enterprise-friendly messaging and information network (including BBM and BIS) in-house and license them out, or it might offer the division outright.
