Problems facing with HTC HD2, Part 10 (Overheating issue it took me several hours to re-store).

It took me several hours (from 12am in the morning) to sync to My Phone, get it re-set to factory & sync back from My Phone to the HD2. The last attempt only took me less than an hour to finished, the reason, place it under my aircon each time I feel the HD2 is hot. So I concluded that it is overheating issue that cause the HD2 to hang. This video shows the problems I have with my HD2.It is suppose to be recorded for them to understand my problems. I created a link to all my video and send them several emails, but they did not even bother to contact me. So I have decided to upload all the scenarios I face with the HD2. Basically I find HTC not worth buying at all cost. I expect this phone to help save my time but instead it wasted so much of my time. The price is top notch but the service sucks. Hopefully by sharing it in YouTube less people will be fooled by them.

    Hi sameeraftabqureshi,
don’t quite understand what u are trying to tell me. Can use simple english not short cut like me, thanks. Anyway, iPhone 4 is the phone I am going for & trade-in my HTC. My HTC always overheat & needs to re-set, so forget it.

  • sameeraftabqureshi:

    @MrJesseTan omg noooooo lol
you can’t jump on the apple bandwagon (N)
trust me, htc hd2, custom levys rom (google it) + cookies hometab 1.8 and its all happy days!!

    Hi sameeraftabqureshi,
I m buying the new iPhone 4, same very compact but I guarranty u that it will not have that kind of bad experience like the HTC re-set phone. I name it myself ;-0000

  • sameeraftabqureshi:

@MrJesseTan yeh true, it is a hardware issue but if im honest, you would expect a 1GHz processor to overheat when its in such a small device with no dedicated air vents. O’ well lol, nothings perfect :P

    Hi Dragonovus,
while replying to one enquiry just now on memory storage space. I just realised that I only used up about 7% of the storage card. Wow, I have long long way to go before it can hit the maximum. So far I never hit any maximum with my previous phone & I don’t believe it will just by messaging as I seldom take picture which takes up most of the memory.

    Hi sameeraftabqureshi,
waiting longer is not an issue, but the problem is it hangs & you got to wait forever. With the new Rom it gets so much better but when it overheated, everything just goes very very slow or hangs. The overheating can never be solve. It is a hardware problem.

  • Dragonovus:

@MrJesseTan Hi, ok thanks for your information!! well i have about 3500 messagess with my girlfriend right now.. but that’s in conversation mode so i guess it really depends on the memory like you said

  • MrJesseTan:

    Hi sameeraftabqureshi,
thank you all for the suggestions, the backup functions seems ok. It backup everything & I can view them all from the internet. But the problem with HTC is it gets overheat easily & when it gets overheat everything slows down or hang, even for simple functions.

  • MrJesseTan:

    Hi iJoshv2,
Currently, I am using the new rom for the HTC, for this function everything seems ok. HTC is able to back up all my message. This video is to show that when it is overheated everything hangs & I have to specially open up the cover to cool it down. Even i have the new rom, it gets overheated & hang easily.

    Hi Dragonovus,
sorry, I don’t have an answer. But I think it should be the maximum memory size any phone can hold. I can send out at times 100 to 200 ++ per day. Because I send out message in group & each group have about 30. so my message easily goes into hundreds.

  • sameeraftabqureshi:

hey are you sure u checked the manual sync process where it ONLY syncs what you chose such as messages? Because say if you sync all your filles at one time surely it will take longer. Also like another user suggested, use PIM Backup.

  • iJoshv2:

can backup your contacts mainly. sure, some messages are gonna be okay, but 2000+ messages? man, no backup services that directly connect to the internet and upload them at edge speeds are gonna take this nicely. you have to realize, it’s a phone. not a powerhouse with unlimited uses. sure, it’s nice, and fast, but you’re stressing it alot more than it should be. like i said, download the newest rom updates, and fixes, and maybe try this again at 3G speeds only. maybe you’ll have better luck.

  • iJoshv2:

2000 text message? wow. dude. if you wanna save those bad enough, use PIMbackup, and backup the messages into a restore file, so you can access them later on. it’s useful;.
and i mean edge speed because there is two speeds of phone access. EDGE and 3G. edge is very slow, and uses alot of resources to keep a signal. 3G is much less demanding, much much faster, and is alot better on the phone’s battery.
the reason they offer a service on this phone is so you can backup your contacts mainly. *more

  • Dragonovus:

    HI, thanks

Btw how many messages can the htc hd2 hold? Mine has about 2600 so far..well that are messages between my girlfriend and me

  • MrJesseTan:

    Hi Dragonovus,

You should be able to get your messages back, just like what I did from the video uploading & downloading back to the phone.

  • MrJesseTan:

Continue … … … Third, what do you mean I have 5 times the message that I should. All my phone that I used I do not erase any text message so that I can use them in future. The message I got in other phone can be 5 times more than the 2,000 in HTC. Are you saying such a “latest & high speed” phone can only handle 400 (2000 / 5) message? I think HTC will curse at you.

  • MrJesseTan:

    Hi iJoshv2,

Sorry to be exact it is 2,000++ text messages. Please look at all the part related to overheating. I can understand the time needed to do the back up but before I open up the casing and help to cool down the phone, it will totally stop and hang there. I totally disagree with your theory, first if the phone cannot take this don’t offer this service. Second, at what speed are you referring? I don’t thing you can increase any speed, it is just 1 speed. Continue … … …

  • Dragonovus:

i got a question, i backed up my phone with MyPhone and i was wondering if i get the text messages back on my phone from the MyPhone website(where u have an account on it)

  • iJoshv2:

you realize this happened because you have 896 text messages, and are trying to update them thru a high demand program (microsoft my phone) at edge speed.
this is probably the most taxing thing you can do to htc phones, besides dropping a boulder on it.
not only does an hd2 not run at full speed when it’s overloaded with text messages, but now you’ve got five times as many as you should, and trying to update them at edge speeds.
go to htc’s website and download the fix’s for your phone.

  • MrJesseTan:

    Hi poulan9,
this is something new to me as I always face with overheating problems. So much so that I have to go to task manager very often to make sure no unnecessary task running that will make it overheat. Anyway, where can I remove the memory card?

  • poulan9:

these phone don’t overheat unless you’re doing something wrong. Just remove the memory card and see if that is causing the problem. Try formatting the memory card because mine started to get very warm and the battery was draining very fast due to a memory card problem that my PC couldn’t detect. After this your phone will run as normal.

  • vipinchandra2:

dude its probably just ur phone man

    the phone works perfectly…..
    lol

  • mettalicmass:

@mettalicmass cool* down the phone lol!

  • mettalicmass:

@MrJesseTan Watchingtime1234 is probably trying to say, the metal absorbs the heat, if u cool down the metal, it will good down the phone.

  • MrJesseTan:

    Hi watchingtime1234,

Simple thinking will tell you that by removing the metal cover allows you to have the aircon blow directly on the phone thus reduce the heat. And you are trying to say with the cover it can reduce heat. Try blowing your face in front of an aircon with & without using a blanket to cover. Tell me which method is more cold.
