Nokia N900 vs HTC HD2

[PLEASE READ] This is an unbiased (trying to be as fair as possible since im going to end up buying one of them myself) comparison of the Nokia N900 and the HTC HD2, im stuck between both of these and cant make up my mind! *bangs head*. So please help me decide. Hope you enjoy… NOTE: Sorry for the “Keyboard” mix up. These are unreleased products at the time, so specifications are AS OF THE DAY OF MAKING THE VIDEO AND ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! Just like to note that i currently have an iPhone 2G and i game heavily on it, games like Assassins Creed, Real Soccer 2010, Real Racing, Sims 3…so im more attracted to the N900 because of its GPU, but i dont know much about the linux community and if they will develop such intensive games for maemo 5…thats mainly the only thing holding me back… Specs Source (as of October 12, 2009): Nokia N900: www.forum.nokia.com HTC HD2: www.gsmarena.com

the n900 battery is crap ! thats why am waiting before i buy !
i prefer a sliding keyboard rather than a touch one !

The advantage of the snapdragon cpu is wasted because it is lacking a gpu.
The combination of a cpu + gpu is a far better combination because the gpu is dedicated and will not charge the cpu for image/video/3d processing.

That is why quake3 will run smoother on the n900 than on the htc desire(snapdragon featured phone).

Okay it’s a bit unfair comparison, the video says that the htc hd2 has 448mb ram,
correct. But it also says that the n900 has only 256 mb ram which is uncorrect.
The 256 mb from the n900 is normal ram.
The 768 mb for the rom is NOT rom memory. It is swap memory (Virtural ram) which brings the total amount of ram for the n900 at 1024mb (256 + 768).

    go for n900!!

  • ooOGuitaristOoo:

wait for the new iphone 4g and for the htc evo 4g
    those devices are awesome!!!

  • Traumtanzer:

Have to say first that I’ve not played with the N900, but I did go with the HD2 for a couple of reasons, first was software base..as an admitted geek, I could compile software for the underlying OS in the 900, but there’s an established base of software for the HD2. Fast processor, lot of memory, and a lot of good modding going on out there. For those annoyed with on screen capacitance keyboard, look at Swype, it’ll make your life a lot easier, might not even miss the keyboard anymore..

  • FragileBitch:

Both are good but only reason I chose N900 because it look like “Black beast” and I like the way it look not too slim but not thicker. Suit me well

  • samth0mas:

    witch is better ?

  • Incentive18477:

What’s the song called that starts around half the vid? Kinda reminds me of grub – go back from a n900 commercial…but it’s not quite the same.

  • TigerClaws12894:

    HD2 FTW!!

  • i900frenchaddict:

HD2 of course, it has much more power, and an OS that has millions of compatible applications you can find easily on the net for free, just to install them.

Also note that the HD2 has multitouch both for the PS1 emulator (fpsece) and the multiconsole emulator (morphgear, nes, snes, gba, etc) so if you’re a gamer that’s important.

  • i900frenchaddict:

@briggs9187 Even overclocked to 900mhz, the ompa CPU remains very slow compared to the 1ghz Snapdragon

  • ZKhan143:

hey friends….! i am also confused between n900 nd htc hd2. Please advice me which one is better

  • briggs9187:

@Alibaba3000 skype integration with the main phone is important to me, the HD2 had it as an app, that is the difference…what im saying is that the N900 works for me and if the HD2 works for you then go for it….no fanboy response just a user point of view

  • Alibaba3000:

    @briggs9187

you can have skype on the hd2 and overclock the memory too
the hd2 have more reserves than you think

  • Alibaba3000:

    @LykeioEllinidonXan
why you want to have a dvd player with you?
everyone has a dvd player at home

  • Alibaba3000:

i have chose the htc because i dont want to have a big rock in the pocket ^^

  • LykeioEllinidonXan:

i think tv out is the ultimate feature. having a n900 is like having a portable dvd player with you. i rest my case

  • MrWadafak:

    htc hd2>n900

  • briggs9187:

The N900 has a 600mhz ARM cortex-A8, I overclocked it to 900Mhz with no problem, the memory is now after the update has been expanded to 1gig to the main memory, I was able to do it with a tweek, mms is coming, called Fmms and will be up in the next firmware update…I tried the HD2 and does not have skype integration like my N900, free calls and open source. If you like the everyday phone get the HD2, if you want a mobile computer with phone integration get the N900.

  • kamisakea:

@8073178 well you prefer htc hd2 and i prefer n900. no problems. lol.
(By the way, i always had non-slim phones, really “larges” so that won’t be a problem lol)

  • tometic:

nokias are shit there are never gonna be good like htc and its shitty loudspeakers are freaking me out when someone lets music on it

  • 8073178:

htc is best phone i agree to 2pacowtlos that htc no need to ompare any cell phone not even nokia

  • 8073178:

@kamisakea ya but htc is always best for their sensivity so htc i think is won but n900 is also good phone but i like htc hd2 its also so much slim its lokk a smart phone so HTC HD2 WOn

  • Rahul:
