Currently iOS 4.2.1 is available for iPhone 3G and you can jailbreak it. Just google in youtube.

Ok verry simple no need for YouTube because I had same problem ok so:
1 download greenpoisin from there website http://www.greenpoison.com
2.follow the insructions and you will have it jailbroken
3. Through the app you get from the jailbreak you will be able to download cydia
4.go into cydia and search ultra snow
And walla ur jailbroken and unlocked
