I’m always fascinated with robotics. What kind of college degrees that I can pursue my robotics dream?

Question by kik0ish: I’m always fascinated with robotics. What kind of college degrees that I can pursue my robotics dream?
I know that it must be related in the Engineering department. There’s mechanical engineering and electrical engineering in the university I’m going. Which one would be the best fit for someone who want to pursue a career in robotics?

    Ever heard of the term mechatronics before? Surely there are schools that give such a focus.

    If not, both electrical and mechanical engineering departments probably have their own robotic subfocus where some courses are just cross listed.

    Its best to do more research.

    You could study electrical engineering, mechatronic engineering, mechanical engineering, and controls engineering.

    Of the four, mechatronic and controls are the most focused in robotics (although controls is usually taken as a grad student)

    well there is many but there is not robotic engineering yet though. u could go into electrical engineering you would probably be a electrical engineer witch pays really well. mechanical is working hands on like car and such

  • ∫[0,∞]f(t)e^(-st)dt = F(s):

    You have 2 paths to choose that will really get you into robotics, and a bunch of variants of those paths.

    Electrical engineering (variant is computer engineering). You can either study signal processing or digital electronics and computer architecture on the side, but be sure to take classes for control systems. Usually a control systems class will be listed with or related to signal processing, but it can also be related to computer systems (embedded systems, specifically).

    Mechanical engineering (variant could be manufacturing or industrial engineering). Usually control systems falls under instrumentation.
