How to Jailbreak / Unlock iPhone 4, 3GS iOS 4.3.1 Using Sn0wbreeze 2.4 / Ultrasn0w [Guide] is a post from: Gadgets DNA

You already know by now how to jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 using Sn0wbreeze 2.4b1 on Windows. Now its time to unlock your iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS, if you haven’t already. If your device is on baseband 01.59.00, 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04, BB 05.14.02, 05.15.04 or 06.15.00, you can easily unlock it using following guide.
Requirements

DownloadÂ Sn0wbreeze 2.4b1 on your desktop
DownloadÂ iOS 4.3.1Â for iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
Download and installÂ iTunes 10.2.1 for Windows

Unlocking iPhone 4 on baseband 01.59.00

If your iPhone 4 is having baseband of 01.59.00, you can use sn0wbreeze 2.4b1 to jailbreak your device without updating its baseband (Guide posted here). Being tethered jailbreak, you need to boot your iPhone in tethered mode using iBooty. Once jailbroken, follow the steps below to unlock it using Ultrasn0w 1.2

Step 1: Start Cydia on your jailbroken iPhone iOS 4.1 or iOS 4.2.1 springboard.
Step 2: Select Manage tab at the bottom of your iPhone screen and then select Sources.

Step 3: Select Edit and then select Add. Now enter a URL source. Type repo666.ultrasn0w.com and select on Add Source. Once Cydia has added the source click on Return to Cydia button.

Step 4: Once the installation is completed. Search for ultrasn0w in Cydia and install it.

Step 5: This will automatically unlock your jailbroken iPhone 3GS, 3G running baseband 01.59.00.
Step 6: Reboot it. That’s it!

Unlocking iPhone 3GS on baseband 05.14.02, 05.15.04

To do so, make sure you firstÂ update your baseband to 06.15.00 and then unlock it.Â Steven has made your life a bit easier by allowing you to updateÂ Â to 06.15.00 baseband within sn0wbreeze.

It is important to note that upgrading iPhone 3GS baseband to the 06.15.00 iPad baseband hack to unlock MAY cause you toÂ lose your GPS! The first step would be to jailbreak your device iOS 4.3.1 using sn0wbreeze (Guide posted here). The steps would remain same, with few changes listed below.

Step 2: Select iPhone 3GS firmware files (Old or NEW Bootrom).

Step 3: The application will automatically detect the device which is required to be jailbroken. Once the 4.3.1 IPSW is verified, click the blue arrow button to continue. Here it will ask, if your device is having old or new bootrom (as shown in screenshot below).

In this case, select option ‘Unlocks’, as shown below. This step is mandatory if you want to unlock your iPhone 3GS running on BB 05.14.02 or 05.15.04. To do so, make sure you firstÂ update your baseband to 06.15.00 and then unlock it. This step will updates the baseband of your iPhone 3GS to iPad’s baseband.

Select “Install 06.15.00 iPad baseband. Click Ok and then Blue arrow button to continue. It is important to note that upgrading iPhone 3GS baseband to the 06.15.00 iPad baseband hack to unlock MAY cause you to lose your GPS!

Follow same process (Step 6 to Step 10).

Step 11: Now select the iPhone 3GS custom IPSW files. Wait for a while till iTunes installs the new firmware 4.3.1 on your iPhone 3GS. After the installation is done, the device will restart automatically. You have now successfully jailbroken iOS 4.3.1 iPhone 3GS with baseband 06.15.00.

Step 12: Follow same steps to tether boot your jailbroken device using iBooty.

It’s now time to unlock your iPhone 3GS, To do so, simply use ultrasn0w to unlock your iOS device.

Unlocking iPhone 3GS on baseband 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04 or 06.15.00

If your iPhone 3GS is already on baseband 06.15.00, then use sn0wbreeze 2.4b1 to jailbreak it first (Guide postedÂ here) and then follow (Steps 1 to Steps 6 – listed above) to unlock your iPhone 3GS baseband 06.15.00.
