How to Flash the Firmware of the LiteOn DG-16D2S (rev. 7485) Xbox 360 DVD Drive

Please note that this only covers the 7485 revision of the LiteOn drive. Before you watch, please take a look at my Introduction to Modifying the Xbox 360 (Firmware Flashing) video. It will get you started. www.youtube.com HARDWARE: Xecuter Connectivity Kit v3: www.modchip.ca Probe Add-on for the Xecuter Connectivity Kit v3: www.modchip.ca VIA6421a SATA PCI card: Just search for it on Google Shopping. SOFTWARE: ReadyDriver Plus (for Windows Vista and 7): data.citadelindustries.net ReadyDriver Plus is used to disable Driver Signature Enforcement in Windows Vista and 7 so that Windows will allow you to use the drivers that are necessary for Jungleflasher to work properly. Make sure that you have Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5: team-xecuter.com Here is Jungleflasher 0.1.70(86): team-xecuter.com Use Auto-Xbins to get the latest firmware for your drive type: team-xecuter.com Just run the executable and wait for the program to connect to the Xbins FTP server. When you see XBOX 360 and WII folders on the right-hand side, it’s connected. Go to XBOX 360 – firmware – hacked firmware – Lite-On DG-16D2S. Download the firmware that’s in this folder.

@hhds113 In your case you can just put the circuit board from your old dvd drive into the new dvd drive, none of this is needed for your cenario
@Robsie2300 You need to buy a VIA6421a SATA PCI card. Most computer stores will have them.
All I’m doing is replacing my old dvd drive with a new one since the old one is not working anymore. It still gets power but does not read discs anymore. At the point before you erase, is this where I switch out my old dvd drive from the CK3 and put in the new drive?

i built my own probe, it is dectected by pc via com. but the old pc with com has no sata, can i buy a COM PCI Card for my pc with the sata port?

i have a xbox with a liteon but the drive is broken it will power on but the drive is broken not the chip but some of the plastic in the drive so i would need a new drive do u extract the dvd key the same way then just switch to a new drive i got erase it and flash it that way
is the whole reason for this flashing process to make the a new disc drives chip board in part making the drive compatible with the xbox? is it possible to just change the chip over into the new drive instead of flashing the new drive?

@shss1c02 that would be nice eh? but no, you have to have some way to put the drive into the special mode to be able to read/write the firmware. that being said, you only have to do that once! Once you flash the modded firmware to the drive you no longer need all that stuff because the modded firmware did away with that requirement. So yeah, it’s frustrating to have to buy all that stuff for a one time flash job but it has to be done.
@charlienethercoat094 you can’t plug n play your replacement drive. Your replacement drives firmware doesn’t have the correct key (the one that matches your xbox). If you did just plug it in – don’t worry, you didn’t do any damage, it just won’t play anything.
If you are replacing your old drive because of laser problems or the drive motor is burnt out (but the circuit board is OK!) you can just take the circuit board out of the old one and put it in the new replacement drive. Done.

But if you don’t want to do things the easy way you will have to extract the data from the old firmware and flash it to the new drive – even if you don’t want to mod the firmware to play burned games.
