    OLEDs are solid-state devices composed of thin films of organic molecules that create light with the application of electricity. One of the layers of the film is emissive made from organic plastic molecules called polyfluorene.
    The biggest problem with OLED is the lifetime, some of the organics have short lifetime.

    same basic way an ordinary LED works, but the compound that gets excited by the current and emits light is organic (carbon) based.
