@Tsylord: I don’t find they cool down a ton. Our basement is almost fully underground, ranging from 5-8 feet underground. I absolutely love it during the summer. It’s a fully finished basement, so we make great use of it. In the summer it stays a lot cooler, making it much easier to fall asleep. And ours isn’t too dark. Both bedrooms have large windows that let in a lot of natural light.

Looks good. Too bad there is only 1 picture of the finished office.

I LOVE the color. I would like to paint my home office or my teaching studio (I give guitar lessons) a similar color but I was afraid it might be too dark.

I like the wire loom he used for the laptop cables on the desk.

You can have a cool finished basement with a pool table and a big TV, and a mini-fridge (much better than a regular one), but nooooo… you just have to make it an office… -.-

(something tells me I need to get some sleep…)

@Benguin: Basements are nice however they are also expensive. Here in Canada they cool the house down a ton in the Winter which adds to the heating costs. They are nice for offices or home theaters. However if your a fan of natural light they’re not the best to have. We’ve lived in our house for 10 years and our basement serves the sole perpose of a massive junk collecter.

@strongworm: Yeah, I have those too. Not much of an audiophile so they sound good enough for me. My dog wasn’t thrilled with the woofer, though.

@Benguin: I agree. I see what a lot of people do with theirs (I am originally from Texas) and really like how people get creative with their hideaway space.

i dont comment much when it comes to featured workspaces. But this one really caught my eye, I always check out the offices that are posted, but man this is so clean and well placed. I totally dig it

Where did you get that desk? Do you know the make or model?

Great setup! The only thing it is missing is a plant. I realize it is a basement office, but even a tiny bit of light will be enough for some plants, and do a lot for the ambiance of the room.

Nice. Except that nice big desk is missing a nice big monitor!

@Benguin: Isn’t that because of the risk of Radon gas or something? My first home will have a basement.

Having lived in Southern California my whole life, I’ve always wanted a basement. We don’t really have them out here.

shouldn’t it be “basement office” instead of “office basement”?

“office basement” implies the basement of an office building to me.
