Claystone Launcher 2.0 for Android makes its launching, we go hands-on (online video)

You’re likely used to many of the heavyweights in the Android launcher world such as Apex, GO and Nova, but if you’ve yet to examine the world of Claystone, you’re really losing out. The free of charge launcher delivers centralized accessibility to apps, contacts, Facebook feeds and news, and for those so likely, Amazon’s app and video clip stores. Unlike the majority of launchers, which position a focus on countless house screens placed in a row, Claystone presents all of its material on one screen that you scroll through vertically. Individual parts such as contacts, Facebook posts and news tales are presented as cards that you can flip with. At the very bottom, you’ll find a familiar setup of permanent shortcuts to the phone, email, messaging and camera equipment apps.
New to Claystone 2.0 is the tandem launcher, which enables individuals to quickly switch over back and forth between the Claystone environment and an additional launcher with a single press of the house button. While this may come off as a bit schizophrenic, the tandem launcher is particularly useful in Claystone’s existing state, as it takes an unsuitable quantity of time to scroll through the 3 x 3 grid of application images on the home screen. Sadly, users of HTC’s most recent smartphones will certainly need to contend with a non-functional configurations button, which is an unneeded eyesore that hogs evaluate real property.
There are lots of attributes about Claystone 2.0 that we genuinely like, and it’s most certainly worth having a look at for yourself. Unfortunately, Claystone still feels even more comparable to a proof-of-concept instead of a fully practical launcher. For instance, while we really dig the capacity to rapidly watch news stories, the feeds aren’t customizable. As an alternative, you’ll locate news streams from Google that cover a set listing of interests: company, amusement, science / tech, sports and top stories. Also, while Facebook integration is a delightful touch, we might like to see a comparable therapy for Twitter. Finally, if Claystone is to compete head-on with other launchers, it’ll require to incorporate content such as climate, calendar events and e-mail messages into the major user interface.
