Austin was not “an American car company that went out of business almost 100 yeas ago”.

It was a British car company until 1952 when it merged into the British Motor Company, the name hasn’t been used since the 80′s though.

Aston Martin is a different company, other than both being British and having somewhat similar names they share nothing

EDIT – Austin-Healey was after the merge with BMC in 1952. Nobody forgot it.

Give me strength, the one answer you have is wrong.
Austin was a british make of car which was started up by an engineer called Herbert Austin in about 1906. He had worked in New Zealand for the Wolseley sheep shearing machine company and came back to UK and got their car division up and running. He then left to set up his own factory near Birmingham UK. When the first world war broke out his factory made everything from ammunition to aeroplanes. After the first world war he had a hard time but made it through to become one of the top 3 motor manufacturers in UK.(The others were Morris and Ford) The situation on war work was repeated for the second world war, he died in about 1941 and after the war Austin merged with the Nuffield company, who made Morris cars.
Aston Martin was founded in the early 1920′s and was a small scale maker of sports/racing cars. Against the odds they made it to the end of the second world war when they were taken over by the David Brown combine, which was a big engineering company. They put a lot of cash in and got the outfit rolling but these cars were Still hand built luxury sports cars. It has to be said that the company has gone through lots of financial ups and downs in the meantime. They were owned by Ford for a while but it was a bit of a vanity project which got sold on when finances got tough.
