What years should I be looking at for a Hyundai Elantra?

Question by : What years should I be looking at for a Hyundai Elantra?
Hello, I need a new car and have been looking at a Hyundai Elantra, especially the GT version. I was reading some reviews on Hyundais and saw that they have only recently become reliable. My question is, when did they become reliable? I am a student so I can’t be spending the money to get a 2012 model, somewhere around 02-04 probably.

Thanks in Advance!

Most people and I will agree that any Hyundai of 2003 and above will be good. One of mine is a 2003 bought new and still have and it has been reilable and a great car… but my new one is a much better car overall.

Elantras were garbage until 2007. So get one that is no older than a 2007. Or just get a different car altogether.

1st, Hyundia has been building quality reliable cars for nearly 15 years, not just a few years. 2nd, the Elantra is perfect for a student, but I would find something a bit newer then 02-04. I don’t know your budget, but the best used cars are typically 4-5 years old, so 07-09 would be good if you can afford it. The older any car the more potential for problems.
