What will come of the new era supercars?
So here is the question…. with all of the major companies (Porsche, Ferrari, and McLaren) now implementing both gas and electric technology in their supercars do you think these cars will have the same nostalgia as their predecessors (Enzo, McLaren F1, CGT, F40, GT1, 959, etc)? On top of the drive trains becoming a hybrid set up, even what I have seen from the interiors they seem to have more luxury amenities in them. I feel like companies have gotten away from the rawness that has made the cars of the past so unique and desirable today. I know some of this is due to safety and emission regulations from various governments, but I think the companies could have done a better job at making their new supercars less refined and more pure to a racing nature. I have personally been in CGT’s and Enzo’s and they seem much more geared to being a pure bread race car that is road legal. Given all of this I can’t imagine these cars being as special and collectable 10-20 years down the road as the previous generations have been. Don’t get me wrong I am not hating on theses companies, the performance figures the new cars are putting up are very impressive and I realize they are an engineering masterpiece, but they just don’t seem to really grab my attention as previous generations have. Maybe I am just looking at this subject with a collectors mindset?? Either way I am curious to see how others feel about this.
Thanks,
CV
