according to this, around $ 130

here is a brand new one for $ 150, but its a “third party alternator”
http://www.autopartsdeal.com/catalog/?N=0&uts=true&Ntt=2000+Hyundai+Elantra+NSA+Alternator
and this is how its changed

imo the job should take around 45min. so count on an hours labor if having it done at a shop. a good “weekend mechanic” can also do this. you may also want to replace the alternator belt while you’re at it

How much faster is the FR-S with decent tires?
“The automobile just comes alive with a nice set of tires.”Those are the words of Toyota VP Bob Carter, which were ringing in my ear after a talk I had with him at the Detroit Automobile Program in January.
Excited to test his concept I sourced a set of wheels and tires for my FR-S, and after a long winter, exchanged out the winter setup. Those standard looking steel wheels, and the Vredestein winter season tires that turned my little Scion into a mountain goat during the cold season are now safely in hibernation for the other year.
The stock wheels aren’t specifically unsightly, but they aren’t almost as modern or aggressive as the car itself. Resolving that are a set of AXIS Xplode rollers we got, which are offered exclusively with Tire Rack. You can see AXIS’terrific choice of wheels right here.
Need to know the amount of of a distinction a new set of tires can make? Will brand-new grippy tires entirely transform the Scion FR-S’ handling? Check out all about it at Autoguide.com

How much further would we be technologically if we had embraced Nikola Tesla’s ideas and not Thomas Edison’s?
Question by helo2k6: How much further would we be technologically if we had embraced Nikola Tesla’s ideas and not Thomas Edison’s?
Nikola Tesla was the father of alternating current (AC), which is the most common form of electricity today. Thomas Edison favored direct current (DC), the type of electricity in batteries.
However at the beginning of the 20th century, Tesla invented and had perfected a method of transmitting electricty via the atmosphere, known as the Tesla coil. This method of distribution, would have allowed our homes, buildings, and vehicles to run without the use of fossil fuels or wires. Simply put, free energy for everyone.
Edison favored a land-line wire method of distribution and ultimately won, because there was money to be made. The people with the money obviously weren’t in the business to fund a completely free method of power distribution. Ultimately, we ended up with a monthly electric bill.
Where do you think humantiy would be today, if we had adopted this free, unteathered method of power distribution?

Hummmm… Humanity?
We would probably be in a worse position than we are now.
With every new development and advance there is a reciprocal backward step and exploitation somewhere along the line!
We would simply have reached where we are today sooner.. and we would now be advanced to a place that is more anarchic and less respectful than we presently are..
Undoubtedly the earth would be in better shape.. but you asked about humanity… an as a species we are greedy, selfish and try to control the environment… his will be our undoing and would have been even if we had followed Tesla.

Not as much as you’d think. Exotic car sales is a low volume business. I would wager than someone who does well selling cars at a Nissan or Honda or Ford or Toyota dealership would make more. When I sold cars, the top salesmen at the Ford place I worked at was make around 250k a year, he had such a huge return customer base, that his customers actually had to make appointments with him so he could sell them a car. That’s very, very rare to see the car sales business. However even if you’re an average salesman and sell 10-12 cars a month, you can still make a comfortable living. I know a guy who sells Porsches for a living, he might move 5 cars a month. And he makes around $ 75k a year. It should be mentioned that selling cars means long hours. Start thinking 60+ hour work weeks. When I sold Nissans you worked 6 days a week 9 A.M. to 9:00 PM (11 :00 PM on weekends) You got one day a week off for two weeks out of the month and and every other Wednesday/Thursday off depending on your assigned schedule. When I was with Ford it was 9:00 AM-9:00 PM Mon-Sat for everyone, the dealership was closed Sunday. I quite because I could make similar money (guaranteed money at that) working in IT and only have a normal 40 hour work week.
Just because you’re selling high end cars, it doesn’t mean you’re going to be making much money at it. Furthermore, the owners of these exotic car dealerships only have maybe two or three salespeople working for them, the sales volume is so low, it wouldn’t make sense to have any more than that. The salespeople in such dealerships are usually family or family friends of the owner of the dealership. It’s very difficult to get hired if you don’t already know somebody who works for the dealership.
The big money for exotic cars is in the service dept. Ferrari techs are very rare and command high wages. A factory trained Ferrari tech will easily make 150k-200k a year.

Depends on the vehicle. Some car company’s vehicles depreciate faster than others. For example, the MINI has the best value retention (to date), and Ford the worst.
This is mostly marketing. Supply vs. Demand sorts of things. There are obviously more Fords on the market than MINIs and Fords are made faster, more cheaply.
Get the idea?
Try Kelley Blue Book if you have a specific vehicle make you are wondering about. It’ll help give you a rough idea.
