What are the best and most affordable lenses for a Canon 5D Mark III?
Question by Hollywood Vegas: What are the best and most affordable lenses for a Canon 5D Mark III?
I know the EF L USM 24-70mm lens is the preferred choice for most pros but I wanted to know if there were another lens out there that is just as good. I’m looking at the Contax Zeiss zoom in the same focal length, they are as sharp as they come and some believed they are better than the Canon. Would like to know if anyone else have their own opinion about lenses for the Mark III, and II.

ONLY Canon EF lenses can be used on your 5D, Mark III.
Carl Zeiss lenses at present only come as prime lenses for use on SLR and dSLR cameras, so you cannot compare an EF 24-70 mm f/2.8 lens directly to them.
The zoom Zeiss lenses are made for motion picture cameras and have “T” stops (actual transmitted light stops) in stead of “F” stops which are theoretical apertures

The “Contax” Zeiss lenses are made in Japan for the most part as are the “Sony” Zeiss lenses.
I am curious why you would spend $ 3,500 for a camera body and then look for “affordable lenses” This would be like buying a Maybach and then looking for the cheapest tires you can find.
