How much is it gonna cost to replace a front axle on my 2002 hyundai elantra?

Question by Vampires dazzle me!: How much is it gonna cost to replace a front axle on my 2002 hyundai elantra?
I ran over a curb, and then got hit by a car on my front passenger side of my car. I really would like to know even a possible ballpark price for how much its going to cost..whether I go to a Hyundai dealership or another shop…how much is the part and labor probably going to cost?? Its a 2002 Hyundai elantra gls. Its manual, front wheel drive….

a cv axle is roughly 110 bucks and labor is about 85 an hour. do not go to dealership. go to a shop that does suspension alignments and replace shocks etc.

I do my own work for the most part so the labor cost is foreign to me but about three weeks ago I changed both axles on a 2001 Accent. The axles were $ 60 and change each with a $ 70 core charge on each one. Of course you get the core back when you return the old axles. Don’t forget new seals, I paid $ 8 each and it is money well spent.

Call an Auto Zone, O’Reilley’s, NAPA or some other parts store and they will be delighted to quote you a price. Be absolutely sure you make them understand it is a manual transmission; my parts guy and I had a miscommunication and I ended up installing automatic axles and had to do the job twice because manual and automatic are different axles.

Any REPUTABLE shop should be able to quote you a labor cost for the job. P.S. if they want more than 2.5 to 3 hours, call another shop. The actual swap is not that difficult and it can be done without needing a front end alignment. Now the accident will probably warrant an alignment but not the axle change.

email my profile if I can help with anything else.
