How can I make an edible lotus flower?
Question by Hannah T: How can I make an edible lotus flower?
I have fondant but i don’t know how to make it stand up like i want this lotus flower to. It needs to cover a circular 4 inch cake and be three dimensional. I don’t have any gumpaste. I have simple ingredients (ie sugar, corn syrup, etc.) to use. Please help!

Just make the flower by making each petal separate. Let the petals dry…then put them together like they do the fondant bows. Just add a paste of water and powdered sugar and moisten the inner tips of each petal. You will need to put cotton or tissue paper between the petals to hold them in place until they dry.

I’ll be leaving next year – May 2010 – in a Ferrari Testarossa from Ottawa, Canada to Puerto Vallarta and possibly Guadalajara and Mexico City. Will I encounter any hazards along the way such as rogue police that will harrass me and require bribes, bandits, loco drivers, drug lords, etc.? Thanks. Kent.
