2011 Hyundai Elantra Limited – First Test

While Toyota and Honda are still offering up conservatively styled vehicles for the C-segment, Hyundai spent extra time massaging its 2011 Hyundai Elantra into a shape with more curves and creases than a Tim Horton’s Cruller. I don’t like the exterior that much but the interior is good.

  • badopinion:

    This car would make a new Corolla owner cry them selves to sleep.

  • Frickitt:

    @enemay typical honda fanboy

  • enemay:

    Way better than a Civic?Uh its slower to 60,has vague steering feel=not fun to drive at all.Civic steering feels predictable and responsive.0-60 who cares?Well,Civic is roomier for taller rear passengers.5star all around crash safety rating and Hondas legendary reliability.That said,yes Elantra has better MPG, slightly..better exterior/interior styling, IMO; though it might look horrible in 5 years, while the civic can just blend in the background.Buy the car you like either one is a winner.

    Wow motortrend actually didn’t do a smear campaign on this Asian import? But of course they will play heavenly music when they review anything Chevy. How’s the board of directors from Chevrolet doing? Did they buy you any vacation beach homes yet motortrend?

  • YunSeung:

    @Char2805Live lol that’s a ’95 second generation Elantra.
    @cb7pwn It’s not Mitsubishi lol. Hyundai stopped partnerships with Mitsubishi since the mid 90′s. The first gen Elantra was Mitsubishi designed, but the second gen was all Hyundai.

  • brocky:

    It’d be great if they can always show a list of their test numbers to see how they stack up against the competition. Just show it for like 2 seconds. That’s all it takes. Honestly, I don’t usually memorize test numbers for cars in this segment. 28.2 seconds around a course.. how does that stack up against the Civics and the Corollas? I know I can watch the other videos and write it down but I think you guys (Motortrend) can put a bit more time to come up with a list and show it to us.

  • cb7pwn:

    @bsp1148 who said anything about gunk?… lol im just saying they have a reputation for poor build quality, albeit, they ARE getting better..

  • bsp1148:

    @cb7pwn wondering if it is going to long haul? Mine seems to be doing well. I have 2001 Elantra with 138k miles on and the last gas mileage I checked was 35.9 mpg. I think it is fantastic. Of course I maintain my Hyundai. For most new cars, after about 5 years, they may start having gunky buildup inside the engine that reduces engine efficiency. There are good products out there you can use to keep your engine free of gunk.
